 About the CHAPTER - I

NIVERSITY FACULTY

Jagan Nath University, Bahadurgarh, Haryana has been established under Haryana State Legislature Act
No. 8 of 2013, approved under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956 and is a Member of Association of Indian
Universities (AIU). The University started functioning with effect from academic session 2013-14 on its own
25 acre campus located at State Highway 22, Bahadurgarh-Jhajjar Road, Haryana. The University has
launched UG and PG Programs in the Faculties of Engineering and Technology, Architecture,
Management, Commerce, Law, Journalism and Mass Communication, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences
and Education. The main objective of the University is to impart high quality education and promote
employability among the youth in the country. To achieve it, the University has developed an excellent
physical and academic infrastructure, state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, other physical
infrastructure and recruited highly qualified and experienced faculty. To ensure practical exposure to
students, among other things, the technical programs are being implemented in collaboration with the
industry. The University is committed to develop as a center of excellence in higher education to meet
aspirations of today's youth by giving them right type of education keeping in view the current market
requirements.

INFRASTRUCTURE Campus
Jagan Nath University, Bahadurgarh, Haryana campus is spread over 25 acres. The University
campus is well developed having the latest facilities and modern amenities to support high quality
teaching, learning and research activities. The academic blocks are well equipped with fully
furnished lecture halls/tutorial rooms/computer center, library, seminar/conference halls, etc. to
facilitate conduct of courses in a befitting manner. The campus has student support facilities like
hostels, canteen, stationery shop, medical support, transport and student activity centre. Jagan Nath
University has made various additions in its infrastructure since its inception and strives for excellence
in all fields. The University inspires students to develop healthy body and mind essential for
personality development. Jagan Nath University has dedicated sports facilities for the students.
Both Indoor and Outdoor sports activities are conducted at regular intervals for the students to
maintain their physical fitness.

 CLASS ROOMS
The Classrooms provide the most conducive
atmosphere for dynamic and focused
discussion and are a significant factor in
creating harmony in the teacher student
relationship. The spacious classrooms have
been designed to propel an enquiry based
learning that fosters liberation of mind and
eagerness to learn. The classrooms with
internet connectivity are well equipped with
Hi-tec h multimedia and audio-visual
equipments to facilitate effective learning
which sets the tone in stimulating discussions. The classrooms are the platforms where students imbibe the
virtues of hard work, discipline, ethical practices and achieve high standards of excellence in every sphere
of life.
INNOVATIVE LABORATORIES
T h e U n i ve r s i t y h a s we l l e q u i p p e d
laboratories for teaching and research.
Students use resources of the laboratories to
solve problems, perform developmental
experiments and work on projects guided by
faculty. By permitting longer hours lab
facility and access to the network from each
class room and lecture theatre, information is
made easily accessible from any point within
the campus. The students are provided a 10
Mbps internet connectivity line in their hostel
rooms to give them the opportunity to spend time exploring and utilizing the resources offered through the
Internet. The University has developed 21 labs for various branches of engineering and Computer Science
subjects.

LIBRARY
The library of the University, fully
computerized, is a veritable storehouse of
information with ample number of text and
reference books, national and international
periodicals and journals, thesis and
dissertations. The library has a special
collection of prescribed text books called
'Book Bank'. It provides latest research and
reference material in print and audio-visual
formats along with the facility to refer to e-
journals, CDs, Project Reports, Government
Publications, Reports and Newsletters, back
volumes related to management, information technology, mass communication, science, engineering, law,
architecture etc. for the reference by students and faculty which help them in strengthening teaching and
learning process. Keeping in mind the needs of the students, the multiple copies of the standard textbooks
and books by well-known authors have been stocked. Distinctive and well stocked individual libraries have
also been developed for different programs in different faculties of studies.
HOSTEL
The University has separate hostels for boys
and girls. Boys hostel has a capacity of 75
seats and girls hostel with 70 seats. The hostel
rooms are spacious, well furnished and are
provided with LAN connectivity with 24 hours
internet facility, reading rooms with dailies
and magazines and additional indoor sports
facilities. The hostels are equipped with
generators to provide 24 hours electricity
supply. A round the clock security is enforced
for constant vigilance and surveillance.
Hostel Messes are run under the guidance of the Hostel Warden.

Computer Centre
The nerve line of the University IT Centre precisely works on
vision based action. It is future savvy so as to adapt itself for
future changes. The IT labs have latest technoloy computers
and other IT equipments. Computer center is enriched with
scanners, LCDs, laser printers, combo drives and Web- Cam
for video conferencing and related purposes.
Corporate Resource Centre
The University believes in an industry-centric approach to
equip its students to meet the corporate and global
challenges of the contemporary world. It is therefore
imperative to create a sustainable industry-academic model
that helps students to meet their career aspirations and also
nurture creative and entrepreneurial talent.
With this mission in focus, the Corporate Resource Centre has

Life at Jagan Nath University
To carve out successful and competent professionals from
raw youth it is important to ensure that they are provided
with the best of facilities not only in the class rooms but also
outside the class rooms. With this motive, all endeavors are
being made to provide all necessary facilities at the campus.

Cafeteria
The Cafeteria not only provides a vibrant atmosphere and
unleaded fuel for the day but also puts forth a new method
of knowledge sharing called the “Cafeteria approach”. It is
an innovative and informal method of learning where one
can debate, discuss and deliberate over a cup of coffee and
thereby actively nurture one's interpersonal skills.
Transport Facilities
University's network of transport buses cover all nearby
locations from Delhi and local communities and townships
lying within the radius of 50 kms. It is designed for the
convenience of our students and staff members who are
residing outside the campus. This ensures their personal
safety, travel reliability and punctuality in the campus.
Medical Facilities
Medical Center with fully equipped all necessary
equipments for First- Aid, general check-ups, BP check-ups,
and Ambulance facility for critical illness are available.
Other Facilities Available on Campus
• 24 hour internet facility is provided in teaching blocks
and hostels.
• Standby power generation arrangements in case of
failure of electricity.
• Bank Loan Facility is available from all Nationalized
Banks.
• Students are encouraged to participate in cultural events
to give a vent to their talent and also to attend Seminars
/ Workshops.
Anti Ragging Policy
Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the premises
of the University, as well as on a public transport, or at any
other place, public or private.
Any individual or collective act or practice of ragging shall
constitute an act of gross indiscipline and shall be dealt with
under the provisions of the ordinance on 'Maintenance of
Discipline among Students' and/or law.
Anti-Ragging squads are highly vigilant in University
premises and in the hostels as well as outside the campus. All
the students are instructed not to indulge in ragging of any
form or kind whatsoever, failing which stringent punitive
action will be taken against those found guilty.

Technical Education plays a vital role in human resource development of the country by creating skilled
manpower, enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life of people. It is one of the
most significant components of human resource development. Technology and engineering translate
scientific knowledge into action and at the same time technological innovations require further research
into materials, devices, and processes. Engineering is the key to technological, economic and societal
development of any nation. The Engineers develop new manufacturing processes and products; create
and manage energy, transportation and communications systems; prevent new and redress old
environmental problems; create pioneering health care devices and, in general, make technology work.
Through these activities, they create a huge potential to develop national wealth and the nation with the
best engineering talent.
In the decades to come, the technological innovation will continue to be rapid and accelerating. The world
in which technology will be deployed will be intensely interconnected, diverse and multi disciplinary. The
presence of technology in our life will be seamless and more significant than ever. This will necessitate,
among others, a good understanding of engineering fundamentals, systems perspective and importance
of team work.
We, at Jagan Nath University, have a strong commitment to high quality teaching, research and corporate
exposure, to enhance the professional competence of the students, rich in knowledge and innovative in
approach. B.Tech is a Four Year Program, spread over eight-semesters. The program comprises various
core and elective subjects interspersed with summer training. A distinctive feature is one Full Semester
(Eighth Semester) Project work in relevant field in industry or government organization to get real life
experiences. The first year of the program is a foundation course in core engineering subjects with blend of
Humanities and Applied Sciences common for engineering branches. Third Semester onwards, students
undergo advanced studies and enhance their skills in the relevant branch.

Civil Engineering is a branch that includes numerous other disciplines that produce useful facilities for human
beings, including roads, dams, waste disposal and other facilities that are used in our daily life. Civil
Engineering is progressing at a fast pace as are other technologies. It is considered as the first discipline of
the various branches of engineering after military engineering and includes designing, planning,
construction and maintenance of infrastructure. The works in CE include roads, bridges, buildings, dams,
canals, water supply and numerous other facilities that affect the life of human beings. Civil Engineering is
intimately associated with private and public sectors, including the individual home owners, international
enterprises and ancient engineering achievements like the pyramids of Egypt and road systems developed
by the Roman.

Mechanical Engineering is one of the earliest branches of Engineering and has always remained in demand
due to new innovations in mechanical engineering industry. Mechanical Engineering involves the design,
analysis, and manufacturing of a wide variety of mechanical components and systems. Endeavor is made to
expose students to all the basic techniques. To ensure it, the Department is well supported by workshop of
Carpentry, Welding, forging, Machine turning, etc.
Since Mechanical Engineering is the broadest of all the engineering fields, the job prospects for skilled
mechanical engineers are plenty and unending. Mechanical engineers are required to design, test,
manufacture, install, operate and maintain a wide array of machines and mechanical systems that are used
in countless industries. These professionals can find employment both in government and private sector
undertakings.
Major industries that employ mechanical engineers include automobiles, space research, aeronautical,
energy and utilities, air conditioning, bio-mechanical industry. Other major employers include giant
manufacturing plants, air conditioning and refrigeration industry, turbine manufacturing plants, oil and gas
exploration and refining industries and the agricultural sector.
In the Government Sector, mechanical engineers can provide their knowledge to various government run
projects in the role of technical experts and consultants. They can also work in private engineering
companies that provide technical consultancy to both government and corporate firms.
These engineers can also hold high managerial positions in government as well as private sector
organizations according to their field of expertise and educational qualifications.
