SPH2462___TUTORIAL-3 LD PROGRAMMING WITH TIMERS Draw a ladder diagram which runs a motor in forward direction for 10 seconds and then reverse direction for 10 seconds and a stop switch to stop at any time instant. You havea machine that eycles ON and OFF during its operation. tis desired to keep a record of its total run for maintenance purposes. What kind of timer should be used au. 2. i) Write a ladder logic program that will turn on a light, PL for 15s after a switch $1 has been turned ON. Q3. Study the ON-Delay timer ladder logic in Fig, Q3 and for each of the conditions given, determine whether the timer is RESET, TIMING, TIMED-OUT or the conditions stated are NOT POSSIBLE a) The input is TRUE and EN is 1, TTis Land DNis 0 b)_ The input is TRUE and EN is 1, TTis 1 and DN is 1 €) The input is FALSE and EN is 0, TT isO and DN is O 4) The input is TRUE and EN is 1, TTis and DN is 1 [we }ON DELAY rs vee nore al =e Be] = 4 “Accumulated of) er iF he Fig. 03 Q4. Apume to be used to fill two storage tanks. The pump is manually started by the operator from a start/stop station. When the first tank is after 5 seconds and the second tank is full after another 5 seconds. ‘The control logic must be able to automatically stop flow to the first tank and direct flow to the second tank using electric solenoid valves, When the second tank is full, the pump must shut down automatically. Indicator lamps are to be included to signal when each tank is full and when the process is completed. : a) Draw a sketch of the process, b) —_Prepare a typical PLC program for this control process, QS. When the lights are turned off ina ‘building, an exit door light is to remain ON for an additional 2 minutes and after the parking lot lights are to remain for an additional 3 minutes after the door light goes off. Write a ladder diagram program to implement this process. Q6. Study the Ladder diagram in Fig.QS and answer the following questions: i) What is the purpose of connecting the two timers? How much time must elapse before the output PL is energized? What two conditions must be satisfied before timer T4-2 start timing? Assume that output PL is ON and power to the system is lost. When power is restored, What will the status of the output be? v) vi) When input PB2 is ON, what will happen? When input PB1 is ON, how much accumulated time must elapse before rung 3 will be true? Fig. OS Q7. Write a ladder diagram program to implement the process illustrated in Fig Q6. The sequence of the operation is a s follows: a ii) iii) wv) vy) vi) vii) vil) ix) Normally open Start and normally closed stop push buttons are used to start and stop the process. When the start button is presses, solenoid A energizes to start filling the tank AAs the tank fills, the empty level sensor switch closes When the tankis full, the full level sensor switch closes Solenoid A is de-energized to stop filing the tank. The agitator motor starts automatically and runs for 3 minutes to mix the liquid. When the motor stops, solenoid B is energized to empty the tank. When the tank is completely empty, the empty sensor switch opens to de-energize the solenoid B and close the valve. The Start button is pressed again to repeat the process
