WAVE ENERGY

WHAT IS WAVE ENERGY?

Wave energy is a form of renewable

energy that can be harnessed from the
motion of the waves. There are several
methods of harnessing wave energy that
involve placing electricity generators on
the surface of the ocean.

HOW DOES WAVE ENERGY WORK?

Depending on the lunar cycles, tides, winds, and
weather, waves can vary in size and strength. As
waves roll through the ocean, they create kinetic
energy, or movement. This movement can be used
to power turbines, which, in turn, create energy that
can be converted into electricity and power. There
are also several ways of harnessing wave energy that
utilize the up and down motion of the waves to
power pistons/turn generators.

WAVE ENERGY A RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCE

Similar to solar, wind, and geothermal energy,

wave energy is a renewable source. As long as the
Earth continues to track around the sun, and the
moon around the Earth, waves will continue to be
a viable source of kinetic energy. Wave energy
also produces fewer carbon emissions than
energy from traditional fossil fuels, such as coal or
oil, making it a more eco-friendly option.

EXAMPLE
Tidal energy is generated from the force of the tidal waves
on the earth. This force is created by tidal waves formed
due to gravitational attraction. These forces create
corresponding currents or motions within the oceans. A
raise within the water level is made due to the strong
attraction to the oceans, which creates a short-lived
increase in water level. Due to Earth’s rotation, this volume
of water meets the shallow water which is adjacent to the
shoreline and creates a tide. This natural phenomenon
takes place in a repetitive manner due to the consistent
rotation of the moon’s orbit around the earth.

WAVE ENERGY IN THAILAND.

Thailand has a coastline on the Gulf of Thailand that is as
long as 1,660 kilometers, with a wave density of only 10 - 20
kilowatts per meter. which is considered not yet efficient
enough to produce electricity from sea waves Normally, the
optimum value should be 40 – 60 kilowatts per meter. Or if
it's best it should be at 60 - 70 kilowatts per meter. Simply
explained, there aren't many waves yet. and not strong
enough to be worthwhile in generating electricity. And if it
is actually produced The most appropriate type is probably
a Tidal energy
