Celebrate St.
Smiles are on tap all day long at this
festive gathering! From sweet treats
to celebratory sips, this Emerald
Isle party is guaranteed to charm
Wow with a fun buffet
It’s surprisingly easy to set up a
stylish St. Patrick’s Day spread,
like this one by Carolina Villarreal
of MintEventDesign.com. To get
the look, push a long white table up
against a wall, then decorate with a
green garland and a green banner
(just glue DIY paper letters to spell
out a festive phrase on a pennant
banner). Next, line up gilded cake
plates, trays and a stack of metal-

showcase a cute on-theme

treats. To finish, sprinkle gold
confetti or coins on the table.

Paddy s Day!
Refresh guests with a
shamrock sip
It wouldn’t be St. Patrick’s Day without a green
drink! And this shamrock sip pairs deliciously
with sweet and savory snacks. To make each:
Combine 1 oz. of Irish whiskey, 1 oz. of Sour
Apple Schnapps (like DeKuyper) and 2 oz. of
white cranberry juice (white cranberry shows
off the Schnapps’ green hue) in an ice-filled
shaker, shake; strain into a martini glass.
Irish whiskey’s woodsy notes bring out the 3 tips for party
Schnapps’ apple flavor, but if you prefer vodka,
feel free to swap it in!

predicament and went to her locker to give her a pair of shoes to
wear. She asked, “Was that you?” I suddenly remembered. “Yes, it
was!” She told me how often she thinks about that generous act,
and she never forgot my kindness. It made me feel so good!
—Kathryn Preston, Taylors, SC

“HE INSPIRED ME TO GIVE BACK!”

Throughout my life, there have been individuals
whose kindness I will never be able to repay. When I
was 5 years old, my mother passed away. She was not married,
but she had a boyfriend. Her boyfriend could have moved on and
forgotten about me, but he never did. He kept coming to see me at
my grandma’s home. He brought me clothes,
shoes and toys several times a year. As an
adult, I made a promise to God that when I
was in a position to help, I would do so whole-
heartedly. With a grateful heart, I am proud
to share that I am fulfilling the promise through
helping a single mom back in Kenya with her high
school tuition. Kindness has come full circle!
—John Martin Wanjiru, South Grafton, MA

“A SIMPLE ACT CHANGED HIS DAY!”

My daughter and her boyfriend were
driving across state lines where you had
to stop and pay a toll. He had been in a very
cranky mood during the trip. When he stopped to
pay the toll, he was told the car ahead of him had
paid it. His demeanor changed immediately, and
he calmed down. My daughter knew that for years I’d
paid tolls for cars behind me. But we never knew how that simple
act might have affected those strangers...until that day!
