3. Write with pen in blue or black ink only, pencils can be used for diagrams and graphs if needed.

Note- (i) Hard copy can be submitted through any of your batchmates, but it should be in

Q.1 (a) Define the following:
(i) Dislocation. (ii) Slip Plane. (iii) Burger vectors. (iv) Co-ordination number
(v) Vander Walls equation (vi) Space Lattice (vii) Grain boundaries
(viii) Dislocation (ix) Interstitial solid solution. (x) Miller Indices

(b) Draw primitive cells corresponding to BCC and FCC unit cells.
(c) What is Crystal Imperfection? Write its classification and explain in detail tilt boundaries, grain
boundaries and screw dislocation.
(d) What is crystal system? Explain the Bravais lattice with neat sketch.
(e) Prove that A.P.F. for B.C.C. and F.C.C is 68% and 74% respectively.
(f) What are the defects and imperfections in a crystal? Describe each with neat sketch.
(g) Rhodium has an atomic radius of 0.1345 nm and density of 12.41 gm/cm3. Determine
the crystal structure of Rhodium (BCC/FCC). Atomic weight of Rhodium= 102.9gm.
