Przeczytaj tekst. Odpowiedz na pytania 4.1.–4.4. Na pytania należy odpowiedzieć w języku

I had really been looking forward to moving from my small flat in the suburbs into something bigger and

much more comfortable in the city centre. It had taken me ages to find the right place, and when I finally
signed the contract to buy the flat I was the happiest person on earth. My previous flat was fine, I guess,

but it was in the suburbs and I felt I was missing out on the cultural life. The new flat was close to all the

galleries, cinemas and concert venues, which got me super excited. The amenities were also good, all the

shops were within easy walking distance and there was a good selection of places to eat. Not to mention

the flat itself, which was spacious but cosy, with high ceilings and a great terrace.

It was great while it lasted, though, because the good life was promptly ruined when a new neighbour

moved next door. At first I didn’t mind all the renovation work that needed to be done in his apartment – I

understood that he had the right to redecorate it as he pleased. However, it lasted for months on end and

the constant noise that went with the works started driving me mad. Then there was the housewarming

party he organized one weekend, following which me and a few other neighbours found piles of rubbish

left on our door mats and in the hall. His flat was always full of people playing loud music and throwing

all night parties, with a bunch of people I didn’t know practically at my doorstep. The final straw was

when I tried to talk to him about it and I simply lost my temper – I banged on his door and we had a

massive row. Needless to say, his behaviour didn’t change one bit and he was back to his usual ways in

no time.

I realise now it might have been a bit foolish on my part, but I really couldn’t control myself any more.

However, ever since that incident, he’s applied different tactics: he now stops making noise at 10 p.m. so

I can’t make a formal complaint to the residents’ committee. But before ten, it’s like living inside a coffee

grinder. Worst of all is that, as I work remotely, the quality of my work has suffered badly because I’m

finding this situation unbearable. I don’t see how I would be able to live in these conditions much longer.

I think I may have to sell the place and move elsewhere, because my neighbour’s attitude isn’t likely to

change.
