Ans. The 3 main benefits of the ISO 14001:2015 Changes are:

 Improve efficiency and cut costs to gain a competitive and financial

advantage.
 Integrating suppliers into the organization's business systems can help
improve their environmental performance.
 Boost employee engagement and leadership involvement

2. Do you see any challenges with the ISO 14001 standard?

Ans. The Challenges that I observed with the ISO 14001 Standards are as follows:

 The adoption of proactive measures, such as climate change mitigation and

sustainable resource use, to shield the environment from harm and degradation.
 Implementation of a stakeholder-focused communication strategy.
 Focus on life-cycle thinking to examine environmental impact from development
to end-of-life.
 Small Organizations may find it difficult for the new implementations,
development for an ongoing operation of EMS.
 It will become challenging for an organization to keep the ISO standards up to
date, if they do not have a dedicated Team of management system.
3 .In your own words, explain an environmental management system.
Ans . An Environmental Management system (EMS) is a set of rules with policies,
procedures & processes. This system outlines how an organization will recognize,
evaluate, keep track of, and manage its interactions with the environment in order to
stop adverse effects on the environment. International Organization for Standardization
(ISO) has established guidelines for the construction of an EMS. ISO 14001 offers some
principles for a good EMS which assists to ensure we do not miss components of a good
system. All kinds and size of organizations, weather they are governmental, non-profit or
commercial, can implement ISO 14001. It mandates that an organization take into
account all environmental issues that are pertinent to its operations, including resource
efficiency and utilization, air pollution, water and sewage difficulties, waste
management, soil contamination, and mitigation and adaptation of climate change. One
requirement of ISO 14001 is that an organization's processes and strategy for handling
environmental issues must be continuously improved. The standard was recently
updated, and among the major changes were a stronger commitment to proactive
measures that improve environmental performance, more leadership involvement, and a
greater emphasis on environmental management within the organization's strategic
planning processes.
