My Name is Dr Gloria Sauti, I am your Lecturer for APY1502 – Anthropology in a


Diverse World. I have been involved in the department of Anthropology and
Archaeology at the University of South Africa, since 2013 while I lived in the
United States, first as an e-tutor and later as a lecturer. I joined the department
as a permanent employee here in South Africa in January 2022.
I am a digital Anthropologist with interdisciplinary research interests which
includes social behaviour in societies and on digital spaces including social media.
In addition, I explore, decolonial scholarship in terms of issues on land, gender,
identity, and student support in ODL Environs. This commenced both at post-
graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral level.
I am really excited to teach you this semester and look forward to learning from
you and to observe how you engage in persuasive discourse with each other. Your
E-tutors and I are available for any queries you might have on Email. To avoid
panic, please read announcements first before you email us. Kindly include your
