COURSE OBJECTIVES
• To provide the basic knowledge required for clinical applications.
• To describe all the basic principles (instruments, materials, equipments) and presente the most used basic
laparoscopic techniques.
• Hands-on training sessions to learn or improve performance of basic technical tasks in laparoscopic
surgery such as intra-corporeal suturing and knots tying techniques, two-hands co-ordination for dissection,
safe use of energy in laparoscopy.
• To describe results and potential complications of laparoscopic procedures.

EDUCATIONAL METHODS
• Interactive theoretical and video sessions between faculty and course participants
• Live and pre-recorded operative demonstrations.

DIPLOMA OF THE UNIVERSITY OF STRASBOURG


In addition to the IRCAD course certificate, it will be possible to obtain a Proficiency Diploma in
General Laparoscopic Surgery from the University of Strasbourg.
The exam consists of an assessment of surgical skills during practical sessions and a proficiency
test (25 multiple-choice questions) on the last day of the course.

Optional Diploma Registration Fees


480,00 Euros

The diploma fees will have to be paid at IRCAD only by credit card to the “Université de Strasbourg”.
Registration on Monday and Tuesday during the coffee break at the reception desk
For successful candidates, the diploma will be sent by the University of Strasbourg via mail to the
address filled in the registration form.
