Module For Wednesday and Thursday
Module For Wednesday and Thursday
- If two sides of a triangle are congruent to two sides of another triangle, and the included angle of the
first triangle is greater than the included angle of the second triangle, then the third side of the first
triangle is longer than the third side of the second triangle.
Example:
1. 2.
S RS ≅ AB S WX ≅ YX
S RT ≅ AC S XZ ≅ XZ
Example:
RS ≅ AB WZ ≅ YZ
RT ≅ AC XZ ≅ XZ
ST > BC WX > YX
Therefore: m ∠R >m ∠A Therefore: m ∠WZX >m ∠YZX
Discussion
If the two sides of the two triangles are congruent, then the third side of the first triangle is greater
than the third side of the second triangle. That means the opposite angle of the third side of the first
triangle is larger than the opposite angle of the third side of the another triangle.
