Street Dance refers to dance movements that have evolved outside of
dance studios. It is performed in streets, dance parties, parks, school
yards, or in any available space.
Hip Hop is a cultural movement best known for its impact on music in the
form of the musical genre of the same name.
There are 6 Street Dance and Hip Hop Dance Styles. B-boying is also
known as Breaking or breakdancing. Popping was popularized by
Samuel Solomon. It is based on the technique of quickly contracting and
relaxing muscles. Locking was created by Don “Campbellock” Campbell
in 1969. It is identified by its distinctive stops. Krumping is a relatively
new form of the Urban Black Dance Movement. It is a dance style to
release anger. Gang riots in the US decreased because of krumping
style.
(The teacher will show the percentage of Gang riots before and after
krumping style was introduced and will let the students analyze the data)
