According to the U.S. Department of Education (Means, Toyama, Murphy, Bakia,


& Jones, 2009), a blend of classroom and web-based teaching and learning offers
access to the widest range of learning modes and methods for developing student
skills and expertise as learners (Cleveland-Innes, 2017). Many findings on blended
learning show an increase in learners’ ability to learn collaboratively, think
creatively, study independently and tailor their own learning experiences to meet
their individual needs.

CONTEXT AND RATIONALE

In the twenty-first century, the entire world has become narrow, accessible, sharable and familiar for all the
people living on this earth as English is used as a common language even though there are some variations
in habits, cultures, traditions, regions and idiosyncratic aspects. As English has got the common qualities,
it has been accepted as the global language among the speakers of thousands of different languages.

In almost all subject we are using English language which requires us to have different skills using
English language. As the traditional mode of learning or acquiring knowledge are being changed
because of the Pandemic which is the COVID-19, this action research will identify the effects of
blended learning in the skills of BEED 1-B students in English.
