A polygon can be classified as convex or

non- convex.
A convex polygon has interior angles that
measure less than 1800 each. In addition,
a polygon is convex if and only if all the
lines containing the sides of the polygon
do not contain points in the interior of the
polygon.
On the other hand, if at least one interior
angle of a polygon measures greater than
1800, it is called a non-convex (or
concave) polygon. The polygon is also
concave if at least one of its sides has
points in the interior.

D. Application

Directions: Illustrate a POLYGON using

the following conditions. Put you
illustration inside the box.

1. Vertices : H, E, A, R, T

2. Sides: HE, EA, AR, RT, TH,

3. Diagonals: HR, HA, TE, TA, RE

B. Analysis

When can you say that the two

triangles are congruent?
C. Abstraction

The three postulates for triangle

congruence are:
a. SAS Congruence – if two sides and
the included angle of one triangle are
congruent respectively two sides and the
included angle of another triangle then
the triangles are congruent.
b. ASA Congruence – if two angles and
the included side of one triangle are
congruent respectively two angles and the
included side of another triangle then the
triangles are congruent.
c. SSS Congruence – if the three sides of
one triangle are congruent respectively
three sides of another triangle then the
triangles are congruent.
• AAS Congruence Theorem – if the
two angles and the non-included side of
one triangle are congruent to the two
angles and the non-included side of
another triangle than the triangles are
congruent.

D. Application

Directions: Observe the figures below.

Prove that the given triangles are
congruent by completing the
table. Using a two-Column form use
theorems or postulates as evidences of
your answer.

B. Analysis four solutions given).
What comes into your mind
when you heard the word
proportion?Ratio?

C. Abstraction

Ratio is used to compare two or more

quantities. Quantities involved in ratio
are of the same kind so that ratio does
not make use of units. However, when
quantities are of different kinds, the
comparison of the quantities that
consider the units is called rate.

Ratio and Proportions are said

to be faces of the same coin. When
two ratios are equal in value, then they
are said to be in proportion. In simple
words, it compares two ratios.
Proportions are denoted by the symbol
“::“ or “=”.

Proportion is the equality of two

ratios. It can be written in ratios or
in a fraction form.

D. Application

Directions: The figures that follow

show ratios or rates that are
proportional. Study the figures and
complete the table that follows by
indicating proportional quantities on
the appropriate column. Two or more
proportions can be formed from some
of the figures. Examples are shown
for your guidance.
