Glamour and Camaraderie: Battle for Mr. and Ms.

Intramural 2023

Mount Carmel College Baler recently witnessed a night of glamour, talent and inspiration as the
Mr. and Ms. Intramural 2023 unfolded with grace and excitement. The event hosted by the
charismatic duo Ms. Rianne Faith Soriano and Mr. Justine Agunos promised an evening filled
with memorable moments that would resonate within the college community.
The atmosphere was set with an opening prayer led by Mr. Wendel Castaneda, grounding the
event in a spirit of reflection and gratitude. The National Anthem followed, echoing through the
venue and fostering a sense of unity and pride among the attendees. The stage was then handed
over to the Student Body Organization (SBO) president, Mr. Jaymark Carbonel who delivered a
thoughtful opening remarks emphasizing “tonight, we gathered to celebrate not just beauty but
also intelligence, talent, and undeniable spirit that define us.”
The introduction of the distinguished panel of judges by Ms. Hazel Ann Mellebo governor of the
Business Education Program and Ms. Mia Paolo of the Criminology Program added an air of
anticipation. The esteemed judges including Mr. Joseph Kian Alanes, Ms. Angelika Saturno and
the Head of the Board of Judges Ms. Lian Angara brought a wealth of experience to the event,
ensuring a fair and exciting competition.
The candidates entered the stage with flair for the production number, captivating the audience
with their energy. Following this, Father John Anthony Losbanes, the executive secretary shared
an inspirational message stating “Hindi lamang magagaling at matatalino and isang Carmelian
bagkus makikita din ninyo ang kanilang talent, kagandahan at kakisigan” setting the tone for the
evening and encouraging both participants and spectators alike. He ended his speech with the
notion: “Tayo ay iisang Carmelian, tayo ay iisa sa puso at diwa”.
The awards ceremony then commenced with the first set of special awards recognizing
outstanding achievements. The first set of special awards are the People’s choice award won by
Candidates 2 from the Liberal Arts Program both in the Male and Female category. Following
the Mr. and Ms. Photogenic award won by the Criminology Program in the male category and
Liberal Arts Program in the female category. Mr. and Ms. Telegenic was also awarded to the
Candidate from the Business Education Program in the male category and Liberal Arts program
in the female category. And the winners of Mr. and Ms. Congeniality are from the Teacher
Education Program.
After the first set of awards, a special number by the Crew Minology added a dynamic touch to
the evening, showcasing the diverse talents within the college. The enchanting serenade by Ms.
Shane Irish Cuento further added a musical dimension to the event.
The Candidates then graced the stage in their sports attire displaying a blend of athleticism and
style. The second set of awards celebrated excellence in various categories, highlighting
multifaceted talents of the participants. The second set of awards are Best in Production Number
won by the Teacher Education Program in the Female Category and Business Education
Program in the male Category. Followed by Mr. and Ms. Close up smile once again awarded to
the Teacher Education Program in the female category and Criminology Program in the male
category. Lastly, the Mr. and Ms. Parade Crowd Favorite was awarded to Candidates from the
Business Education Program.
After the second set of awards, Ms. Shane Irish Cuento then serenade the audience once again
creating a melodious interlude. After that, the talent portion unfolded, revealing the diverse skills
and passions of the Candidates.
After the talent portion then came an elegant moment with the farewell walk of the reigning Mr.
and Ms. Intramural 2022 1st runner-up Ms. Carmella Delos Santos and Mr. Benj Jordan San
Mateo marking the end of their reign with grace and nostalgia.
The formal wear and long gown segment then commenced, featuring elegant long gowns and
suits showcasing the candidate’s sophistication and poise.
The atmosphere brimmed with anticipation as the Mr. and Ms. Intramural 2023 candidate
stepped onto the stage for the Question and Answer Portion. Confidence radiated from each
participants as they prepare to tackle thought-provoking inquiries that would not only showcase
their eloquence but also unveil the depth of their perspectives.
The emcees, Ms. Rianne Faith Soriano and Mr. Justine Agunos poised and ready presented the
Questions that would test the candidate’s ability to articulate their thoughts under the spotlight.
The audience held their breath, eager to witness how each contestant would navigate the
challenge.
The Question and Answer portion became a pivotal moment, not only in determining the winners
but also in showcasing the poise and intelligence of each participant. The audience captivated by
the genuine and articulate responses applauded each candidate for their ability to navigate the
challenging queries with grace and conviction.
In this segment, the Mr. and Ms. Intramural 2023 candidates not only demonstrated their
physical charm but also revealed the depth of their intellect, leaving an enduring impression on
the hearts and minds of everyone present at the event.
While waiting for the Q&A result, the candidates were Serenade by Prince Querijero, student
from the Liberal Arts Program. Then followed by the third set of awards. Mr. Hunk of the crowd
and Ms. Darling of the crowd was awarded to the Candidates of the Criminology Program. Best
in Sports attire in Female Category is won by the Teacher Education Program and Business
Education Program in the Male Category. Then the winners of Mr. and Ms. Intramural Best in
Talent was awarded to the Candidates from the Liberal Arts Program and Mr. Intramural Best in
Formal Wear and Ms. Intramural Best in Long Gown was both awarded to the Candidates from
the Business Education Program.
After that, the awarding of Certificates of Recognition to the Panel of Judges was then led by
Father John Anthony Losbanes, Executive Secretary, Mrs. Ameurpina DL. Costa MSBA OSAD,
and Mrs. Heraldine S. Villamora, College Affair Officer.
Then came the anticipated final walk of the candidates before awarding the winners. Only
minutes has been spared and the announcement of winners was then delivered. In the Male
Category 3rd runner up is Frederick Macaraig I from the Teacher Education Program, 2 nd runner
up is John Musa of the Liberal Arts Program, and the 1 st runner up was awarded to Robin Brown
Tuzon of the Criminology Program and the title of Mr. Intramural 2023 was given to none other
than Lee Ong of the Business Education Program.
For the Female Category, Rheagine Espanol of the Business Education program bagged the title
of 3rd runner up,and Diana Rhose Gatita of the Criminology Program gets the title of 2 nd runner
up and from the Teacher Education program Althea Zarinella Flores once again is entitled as the
1st runner up, and the newly crowned Ms. Intramural 2023 still defending the title is from the
Liberal Arts Program, Jersey Dela Torre.
It was truly a night filled with joyful cheers from the spectators and tears of joy from the
candidates as they celebrate their wins.
The event reached its conclusion with a heartfelt message from Mrs. Ameurpina DL. Costa and a
closing prayer delivered by Ms.Ethel Xenxia Catipon wrapping up a night that will be etched in
the memories of Mount Carmel.
