Zoology Justification
Zoology Justification
CHED RO XI Zamboanga
I hope this letter finds you well. On behalf of Medina College Ipil Inc., I would like to express our
gratitude for the opportunity to provide justification for the inclusion of Zoology as a subject in the new
curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, commencing in the academic year 2023-2024.
While Zoology was not originally included in the CHED Memorandum No. 3 s. 2023, we believe its
incorporation is essential to enhance the academic foundation and professional competence of our
midwifery students.
Zoology, the scientific study of animals, plays a crucial role in understanding the physiological,
anatomical, and behavioral aspects of diverse species. In the context of midwifery education, a
comprehensive understanding of animal biology provides students with invaluable insights into
reproductive systems, embryonic development, and comparative anatomy.
The proposed Zoology course will cover a range of topics, including the reproductive physiology of
mammals and other relevant aspects of animal biology. By studying comparative reproductive systems,
students will gain a deeper understanding of the complexities inherent in childbirth and prenatal care,
directly applicable to human reproductive health.
In conclusion, the addition of Zoology to the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery curriculum is a strategic
decision aimed at enriching the educational experience and preparing our students for the complexities
of contemporary midwifery practice. We are confident that this enhancement will contribute
significantly to the academic excellence and professional competence of our graduates.
Thank you for considering our justification. Should you require further information or clarification,
please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Dean of Midwifery
