Catch Up Plan for Grade 8-Mathematics

General Statement: A strategy for improving students' mathematical skills on Catch-Up

Fridays involves assessing their current level of understanding through an assessment. This
diagnostic tool helps pinpoint areas where students are struggling the most. Teachers can
then use this information to plan remedial and enrichment activities specifically designed
to address these gaps in students' understanding, thus catering to their individual
developmental needs.
Pre-Implementation
Teachers will assess their students through a comprehensive evaluation which is composed
of 50-items multiple choice test for 60 minutes covering the topics from the previous
quarters to identify areas where they have the least proficiency. After identifying the least
learned competencies, it will be categorized based on their level of complexity.
Subsequently, teachers will design a series of activities aimed at gradually building
students' understanding of these concepts, ensuring that they progress at a pace conducive
to their learning needs.

Least learned competencies:

Implementation
After devising both remedial and enrichment activities, the teacher will organize students
into groups according to their specific developmental requirements. Teachers will then be
assigned to each group based on their expertise in the identified least learned competencies.
Throughout the implementation phase, teachers will incorporate enjoyable activities or
games during breaks to serve as energizers, ensuring that students remain engaged and
motivated during the learning process. These fun-filled breaks will contribute to
maintaining a positive and lively atmosphere conducive to effective learning.

Post-Implementation
Following the completion of the series of activities, teachers will administer monitoring
assessments to gauge students' progress. These assessments serve as checkpoints to
evaluate the effectiveness of the remedial and enrichment activities in addressing students'
developmental needs. Teachers will collect and analyze the assessment results of students
with identified developmental needs, generating valuable data to inform further
instructional decisions. This data-driven approach allows teachers to track individual
student progress and make informed adjustments to their teaching strategies as necessary,
ensuring ongoing support for students' learning and growth.
