Factors affecting media planning:

1) Nature of product: Industrial or consumer.


2) Nature of customers: Age group, gender, income, educational level and
attitude.
3) Distribution channels: Local, national and international.
4) Advertising objectives: Immediate results or over a period of time.
5) Nature of message: Informative, demonstration, etc.
6) Size of Ad-budget.

Problems faced in media planning:


1) Insufficient information.
2) Time pressure.
3) Inaccuracy in audience measurement.
4) Difficult in cost comparison of various medias.
5) Inadequate expertise.
6) Changing environmental factors.

Audit bureau of circulation:


The ABC was established in 1948. It is a non-profit organisation. Management
includes 16 members as follows:
8 elected representatives of Publisher members.
4 elected representatives of Advertising agency members.
4 elected representatives of Advertiser members.
ABC verifies circulation figures every 6 months i.e. from January to June and
July to December. The information is provided free of cost to its members.
Functions:
1) Collect circulation figures from its members.
2) Verify circulation figures.
3) Provide circulation figures to its members.
