The role of social media and television in political persuasion

2. PAPER OBJECTIVE AND BACKGROUND


The aim of this research paper is to clarify the effect and role of social media and
television in political persuasion, Many people express their political opinions
freely on social media, as social media has become the door through which
everyone can express their opinions, also social media and television have a great
role in persuasion and political influence on people, and this is why politicians
consider Social media and television as an important weapon for influencing
people and convincing them of their political.

3. RESEARCH QUESTION(S)
1-What is the importance of social media for political persuasion?
2-What is the influence of television on people's political opinions?
3-Is there a negative effect of social media and television on people's political
opinions?

4. METHODOLOGY
This paper will be based on other research papers and on the opinions of different
people on this topic (google form surveys and interview).

5. CONCLUSION
Since the advent of electronic media in the 1920s, social science research on
political persuasion has passed through three distinct phases. Academic social
scientists, who are predominantly liberal, were initially alarmed at the possibility
of right-wing propagandists virtually brainwashing them. The omnipotence of the
mass media has affected the masses. As time went by, the data started to pile up.
However, by the 1940s and 1950s, it was clear that this picture had been
exaggerated. In reality, for a long time, the opposing viewpoint was popular: that
the media is rarely successful in causing significant shifts in public opinion. This
general concept of limited media impact holds a lot of truth today, despite recent
developments.
