Cautions for Air Cleaner Maintenance

Improper air cleaner maintenance may cause failure inside of the engine.
Please be sure to perform air cleaner maintenance in accordance with the procedures
outlined in this service sheet.

●Air cleaner maintenance should be performed every 250 hours of machine operation
(or whenever the Air Cleaner Restriction Alarm light is on).
More frequent cleaning may cause damages to the air cleaner.

Outer element

Inner element

●Do not perform air cleaner maintenance in location subject to strong winds or high
levels of dust.

●Be sure to clean out any dust that may be in the case.

●Clean the outer element by blowing it out with compressed air that is no more than
0.67 MPa (7 kgf/cm2).

●Replace the outer element after 6 times cleanings, 1500 hours of machine operation
or the case that machine has been in use for 1 year, whichever occur first.

●Do not remove an inner element, if it is installed in the air cleaner. When removed, be
sure to replace it. (Dust will come in and causing engine malfunction)

●Please contact your nearest Hitachi Construction Machinery dealer to replace the air
cleaner with a new unit when there is Air Cleaner Restriction Alarm just after cleaning,
even if the air cleaner has been cleaned fewer than 6 times.

●Be sure to perform a compressor inspection before cleaning the air cleaner.
 Air Cleaner Maintenance Procedures

① Do not hit the outer element or ② Blow compressed air from the inside
strike it against a hard object to the outside of the outer element
when cleaning. along the folds of the filter paper.

Replace the air cleaner with a new unit if it is in any of the following cases even
after cleaning. Please contact your nearest Hitachi Construction Machinery dealer
for this replacement.

Filter paper was deformed

Outer element was Damage was detected
damaged in the filter paper with
checking by shining
a light from inside of it.

Compressor inspection

●Drain water from inside of the compressor tank prior to use.

●Make sure that air compression rate of the compressor is set to NO more than
0.67 MPa (7 kgf/cm2).

●Make sure that an air cleaner is installed in the compressor body.

(If an air cleaner is not installed in the compressor, the compressor suck in dust
around and expel that dust with the compressed air.)
