Term and Conditions for Internship/Dissertation at NCMRWF

NCMRWF lay out term and conditions for doing Internship or Dissertation at NCMRWF. The interested
students can apply for it in the prescribed format provided here. The term and conditions are given in
details below:

Essential Qualifications:

(i) M. Sc. /M. Tech students should complete at least 2 semesters of the course in meteorology /
Oceanography / Atmospheric Science / Climate Science / Physics / Geophysics with specialization in
Meteorology / Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics / Earth System Science and Technology
or related discipline from a recognized university.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in engineering/Technology students should complete 4th semester in
Mechanical/Computer Science or related discipline from a recognized university.

AND
(ii) At least 7.5 CGPA (or equivalent average percentage of marks of all the completed semesters).
AND

(iii) Physics or Mathematics as one of subjects in bachelor’s degree.

Duration of Internship/Dissertation:

Summer Internship: 2 to 3 months (Period: May to August)

Dissertation or Project work: 3 to 6 months (Period: January to July)

General Points:

a) Total number of students for internship/dissertation to be admitted every year will be limited to 10.
Period for summer interns May to August and January to July for dissertation work.

b) Not more than 02 students from each department of a University will be considered in case more
applications are received from various universities.

c) Application form available at NCMRWF site (www.ncmrwf.gov.in) for internship/dissertation. The

filled application form should be forwarded from HOD/Dean/Head of organization. The application
form without recommendation from HOD/Dean/Head of organization will not be entertained.

d) Obtaining recommendation from University or fulfilling the minimum prescribed essential
qualifications and the mere possession of the same does not entitle students to be offered for
internship/dissertation at NCMRWF. If the number of applications received is larger than the available
positions NCMRWF may adopt a screening process to select the candidates.

e) Not more than one student will be assigned to one scientist mentor for the summer
internship/dissertation.

f) The period of the application for Summer Internship or Dissertation work will be from 15th March to
15thApril and 15th November to 15th December every year respectively.

g) NCMRWF will not provide any fellowship during the internship/dissertation period and no
contractual/permanent position will be offered based on the internship/dissertation. NCMRWF will not
be responsible for financial, health issues or any other arrangements.

h) NCMRWF Guest house facility will be provided to students as per the availability and the guest
house charge may be applicable as per the norm framed by NCMRWF. Priority will be given to outside
students.

i) Applications after the closing date or received incomplete in any respect are liable to be summarily
rejected. No representation against such rejection will be entertained.

j) Properly filled prescribed application form can be sent through e-mail to director@ncmrwf.gov.in on
or before last date.
