Building a
CHEMICAL TASK FORCE.
The chemicals that our brain releases when we do or experience
certain things are essential for our wellbeing. Below are some things
that trigger each chemical release

MINI GUIDE

PRIORITIZING +
BALANCING MUSIC
It can be hard to prioritize and balance all of your music,
especially if you have a lot of it!

To prioritize your music, you must consider these 3 things:

When the performance is

How hard the music is

How long you have to prepare

But that isn’t the hard part, the hard part is balancing these pieces
with the other music you have, without neglecting anything.

Step 1
Create a list of all the pieces you're playing.

Step 2
Rearrange them so that the LEAST urgent stuff is at the top.

Step 3
Estimate how much time you will spend practicing each
day. Choose a time that is actually attainable for you,
because
we will build a practice routine from this time frame.

Step 4
Allocate times for EACH piece. Consider the prioritizing
questions. Give more time to the more urgent and difficult
pieces. Give at least a few minutes to your “less important”
pieces to keep it in the front of your mind.

If you can’t get to every piece


every day, start the next day
with the pieces you missed so
you are in a constant rotation.

PRACTICE TEMPLATES
Having structure is the most important thing in maintaining a
healthy and sustainable practice routine. Having everything laid out of
front of you, planned in advance, is how you set yourself up for success.

I’ve included 12-month calendar with pick-your-own start dates,


weekly planners, and a daily practice journal. All are designed to help
you keep track of your events, plan ahead and stay on course.

below) and create a loose plan according to those goals. This is just a
guide to keep your mind clutter-free and keep you on track, so if your

Below the date, write a list of overall goals for the day.
Step 1

Divide your goals by the number of practice

Affirmations before you practice are a great practice hack.

Plan out your breaks ahead of time so you have something


to look forward to during each session.

Reward yourself after each big accomplishment.

Tell yourself positive things, even if you don’t believe


them. Keep telling yourself until you do!

DONE FOR YOU TEMPLATES (PLUG IN & GO)

Template 1
3 sessions of 30 minutes with two 5-minute breaks in between.

Break 1
Journal prompt and rest- What is going well this practice session? Is there
anything I can do to take better care of myself right now?

Break 2
Glass of water and take a step outside for a bit of fresh air. Set a timer so
you can actually let go and rest without watching the clock.

Template 2
Two or three 1-hour sessions with 20 minute breaks in between the first two,
and a longer break before the third.

Break 1:
Choose one thing to ground yourself from activity 1, and spend quality time
doing it.

Break 2:
Completely remove yourself from your instrument. Now is the time to relax
and spend some time unwinding before your next practice session. Reward
yourself!

Three 45 minute sessions with 15 minute breaks in between.

Break 1:
Choose one thing from Activity 1 that will keep you motivated.

Re-training the Subconscious Mind

Our brain can’t tell the difference between reality


and made up stories. So the stuff you say (and
think) to yourself matters!

Mantras are a great way to re-train your


subconscious mind. The next few pages are FILED
with mantras for Imposter Syndrome, Overthinking,
Motivation, and Perfectionism. There’s even a
practice hack that I use to prepare for practicing
when I am in a lower mental state.

Start saying some of these mantras daily. If you


picked just ONE and said it every day for 30 days, I
can guarantee that you’d see a difference in
yourself!
