ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF SALES

JOB PURPOSE
Responsible in securing and maximizing all sales opportunities from determined market segments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Hire, Train, Supervise and direct staff in all Sales operations in the hotel. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to
provide clear direction to the staff. Assign and instruct Sales staff in details of work. Observe performance and encourage
improvement where necessary. Delegation of duties and responsibilities to his is necessary to ensure the proper functioning of all
phases of Sales in the areas under his/her control.

Listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information. Remain calm and alert,
especially during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for Sales staff and other hotel
employees. Interact with other departments closely to ensure efficient department operations and quality Guest service.

Field customer complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation in order to choose the most effective solutions.
Make decisions and take actions based on previous experience and good judgment, sometimes revising procedures to
accommodate unusual situations.

Maintain established inventory by ordering all times and supplies in accordance with business needs.

Schedule staff and allocate product and equipment according to size of function and/or house count.

Other:
To follow the principle that Guest is always right and that the Guest is Priority.
Guest preference to be given top most priority always.

To ensure to train all new staff on department SOP’s and to constantly re-train old staff to maintain the specified standard of
service.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful
performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including
termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, this position requires to work in varying schedules to reflect the business
needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Upon employment, you are required to fully comply with Accord rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the
hotel’s facilities. Violating hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of
employment.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following
supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon
the particular requirements of the hotel:
 Assist in the development of the Sales and Promotional Marketing plan.
 Establish a regular call pattern for meeting with principles of target markets.
 Forecast, analyze and report Sales and Profit results.
 Participate in preparation and planning of the Annual Operating Plan, Departmental Objectives and other costs
related to the Annual Budget.
 Participation in developing/reviewing rate structures and conditions applicable to various marketing segments,
based on market feedback and conditions.
 Participate in trade shows, conventions and promotional events within the hotel, the industry and customer
organizations as necessary.
 Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required.
 Liaise closely with other departments within the hotel to ensure efficient and regular communication of sales
activities.
 Actively source new account and develop existing accounts that will meet the yield objective of the hotel from
these market segments.
 Ensure in developing strategic sales plans, detailing sales distribution plans, trade shows and other promotional
opportunities in order to meet the hotels overall strategic plan.
 Establish an understanding for Accord policy and procedures. Develop and maintain a good working with all
GSO’s and actively sources Team Hot leads for other Accord properties.
 Effectively measure and report on a timely basis, sales results with updated strategies and competitor
information to the General Manager
 Maintain regular contact with key contacts in the appropriate market segments including site inspections and
sales calls.
 Assist with the development and performance reviews, identifying key personnel for further development and
structured career - pathing.
 Attend meetings as required.
 Implement opportunities for quality Team Building.
 Participate in the Hotel “Manager on Duty” program.
 Ensure compliance with legislated heath and safety requirements within the workplace.
 Comply with all Corporate and Hotel Standards and Procedures.
 Actively promote a work environment, which cares for guests and associates alike.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she
can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of
knowledge, skills, and abilities:

 Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
 Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
 Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
 Must possess basic computer skills.
 Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
 Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system when
applicable.
 Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and prepare complex reports

1. Experience:

Minimum six years Sales experience is required

2. Education

High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
