5. PREVIOUS ACHIEVMENTS
5.1. NATNA IN 2017

Natna Sport Events hosted the first successful road race on April 7, 2017 by
organizing the first and unique 10K Road Run at Mekelle, Regional Capital of Tigray
region with participation of more than 5,000 people from Mekelle city, Mekelle
University students and other neighboring cities.
Ethiopian Legendary Athletes, Athlete Dr. Shaleqa Haile Gebresilasie, Athlete Dr.
Colonel Derartu Tulu, Athlete Gezahegne Abera, Athlete Anbesse Tolosa, Athlete
Yemane Tsegaye, Athlete Dejen Gebremesqel and founder of Natna Sport Events,
Athlete Gebregziabher Gebremariam and his wife Athlete Werkinesh Kidane
accompanied by Mayor of Mekelle City Administration, His Excellency Ato Daniel
Assfea, Mekelle University President, His Excellency Professor Kindeya Gebrehiwot
and other officials from the City Administration and Mekelle University were part of
the event and put their valuable contribution to the realization of the first unique
event. Two days before the 10K Road Run, Natna Sport Events had two press
conferences and a public speech was also organized by Mekelle University with
presence of Sponsors, Partner Organizations, Media Institutions and guests and
honors of the day, Students of Mekelle University. Honorable Athletes presented a
remarkable and inspirational speech to the students and university family.
On the day of 10K Road Race, apart from the media coverage, previous
advertisement on medias and road entertainment plus a print media, it had Live
transmission on Tigray Television and had many viewers at the time.
5.2. NATNA IN 2018

Natna Sport Events In 2018 advanced by one more race, the Kids Race was hosted on
August 19th 2019. In addition to that Wegagen Bank S.C become the Title sponsor of
all Natna Road Races and the Races named by Wegagen Bank S.C and on the Kids
race more than 750 children from 5 to 13 age groups, and the 10K road run more
than 4000 fun runners and 100 Elite Athletes were attended the race.
Even though both Races, “Wegagen Natna 10Km Road Run” and “Wegagen Natna
Kids Run” were held at the same day, it had a positive response from the participants
which lead Natna to organize the Kids Race one day before the 10K Road Run.
Like the previous year, this year’s races had Live TV Coverage on Tigray Television.
5.3. NATNA IN 2019

In 2019 the company hosted by adding one more race for Women. In July 6, Natna
hosted “Wegagen Natna kids Race” for 1500 kids, in Mekelle University Adi- Haki
Campus. It included entertainment for Gust of honours, Participants, parents.
In July 7 2019, Natna Hosted “Wegagen Natna 10K Road Run” using Romanat Square
as start finish point. On this fun run around 5000 participated and had many
audiences. As it was held for the 3rd time, it was so cheerful and create an
unforgettable moment especially to the graduating class of Mekelle University.
Before the Annual Ashenda festival (Nominated for UNESCO Intangible Heritage) in
August 18,2019 the first Women Road Run held using Hawilti as start finish area, for
around 2000 participants. The Tigray Region Culture and Tourism office accepted
“Wegagen Natna Ashenda 5Km Road Run” as part of Ashenda Festival and
announced it accordingly on their Press release and included it on their Calendar.
Government officials, Sponsors and other gusts participated on this big event. In
addition to the Road Run there held a Women Bicycle Race. It gave a great highlight
to the big event.
DW Radio and Television, as Natna Road Races Official Media partner, gave a huge
media coverage and for “Wegagen Natna 10Km Road Race” and “Wegagen Natna
Ashena 5Km Road Race” live Media coverage.
