It is customary in this holiday to hold family gatherings that practically

last the whole weekend. In Thanksgiving, for tomorrow it is very typical to

watch on television the great parade of Macy's Warehouse in New York that
includes gigantic bombs, floats, bands, figures of the most popular characters
among children, and even Noel, for to stop many of these dates are the
beginning of the Christmas-time. The world's great brands of toys and some
well-known Sesame Street characters make one of the brightest and most
colour full parades in America, known as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day
Parade, a tradition that began in the 1920s.

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated on various
dates in the United States, Canada, some of the Caribbean islands, and
Liberia. It began as a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing
of the harvest and of the preceding year. Similarly named festival
holidays occur in Germany and Japan. Thanksgiving is celebrated on
the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of
November in the United States, and around the same part of the year in
other places. Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious
and cultural traditions, it has long been celebrated as a secular holiday
as well.
