PART A
A MICRO PROJECT REPORT

Title of micro-project: “Make Rechargeable Automatic on

off Emergency Light ”.

1.0 BRIEF INTRODUCTION:

When there is an AC power supply, the battery charges through the rectifier
made-up of diodes meanwhile the LEDs will not glow as relay senses the AC
power supply.

2.0 AIM:
Aim of microproject is:

Make Rechargeable Automatic On Off Emergency Light.

3.0 COURSE OUTCOME:

• The purpose of automatic emergency lights is to ensure that there will be
adequate light provided when normal lighting fails.

4.0 LITERATURE REVIEW:

Make Rechargeable Automatic on off Emergency Light it is a system that

automatically switches ON a lamp when regular AC supply fails, and switches it
OFF when mains power returns.

LED Emergency Light:

LED Emergency Lights, also known as automatic rechargeable emergency light,
switches on when it comes to power outage.

GRWPT 5
“ Make rechargeable automatic on off Emergency light”

Emergency lighting is wired to the building’s power supply for continuous charging of
internal batteries to provide back up power for the lighting

• Emergency lights consist of a fixture connected to the main power supply

to charge a small battery.
• When power to the fixture is lost, the internal circuits switch over to the
backup battery to provide lighting during an outage.

• A MICRO PROJECT REPORT

PART – B

RATIONALAE:
• BCD to seven-segment decoder will allow the display of a binary
coded decimal on a seven-segment display. The input to the decoder
is a number from 0 through 9 in BCD and the output provides the
seven inputs required to drive the seven-segment display.
• 2.0COURSE OUTCOME:
• Simulate simple combinational circuit
• 3.0 LITERATURE REVIEW
• Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) encoding scheme each of the decimal
numbers(0-9) is represented by its equivalent binary pattern(which is
generally of 4-bits). Whereas, Seven segment display is an electronic
device which consists of seven Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs)
arranged in a some definite pattern (common cathode or common
anode type), which is used to display Hexadecimal numerals(in this
case decimal numbers,as input is BCD i.e., 0-9). Two types of seven
segment LED display:
• Common Cathode Type: In this type of display all cathodes of the
seven LEDs are connected together to the ground or -
Vcc(hence, common cathode) and LED displays digits when some
‘HIGH’ signal is supplied to the individual anodes.
• Common Anode Type: In this type of display all the anodes of the
seven LEDs are connected to battery or +Vcc and LED displays digits
when some ‘LOW’ signal is supplied to the individual cathodes.
• But, seven segment display does not work by directly supplying
voltage to different segments of LEDs. First, our decimal number is
changed to its BCD equivalent signal then BCD to seven segment
decoder converts that signals to the form which is fed to seven
segment display. This BCD to seven segment decoder has four input
lines (A, B, C and D) and 7 output lines (a, b, c, d, e, f and g), this
output is given to seven segment LED display which displays the
decimal number depending upon inputs.

“ Make rechargeable automatic on off Emergency light”

6.0 ADAVANTAGE:
•More Number of counters can be increased by increasing number of
counter IC and 7 segment displays.
•Cascading ensures that value of counter can be increased or
decreased as per applications and use.
• Counter Circuit can be used with other circuits to perform automated
control actions.

7.0 DISADVANTAGE:-

•As the number of counter size increases the complexity of building

circuit also increases.
• Cost also increases because the use of more ICs and 7 segments
takes place.

7.0 SKILL DEVELOPMENT :

8.0 APPLICATION OF MICROPROJECT:

Seven-segment displays are used to display the digits in calculators,

clocks, various measuring instruments, digital watches and digital
counters.
