ches side by side, you expect to see the
same hues. Variations in the brightness or
even different colors can significantly de-
grade the overall impression. To prevent
production errors here continuous color
monitoring is indispensable. luminance

Using the NYSCAN Delta E module spe-

cific measuring spots can be positioned +b yellow
on relevant color marks. The color values
detected at these spots are saved and
used as a reference for the subsequent
comparison.
During the inspection the colors from the- saturation
-b blue
se reference points are compared with
the color values on the subsequent pa-
nels. Differences are immediately indica-
ted as ∆E variations that can be evalua- -a green
ted and are also documented. color shade

black (L=0)

∆E 0.0 - 0.5 No difference to almost no difference

∆E 0.5 - 1.0 Difference can be perceived by the trained eye
∆E 1.0 - 2.0 Minor color difference
∆E 2.0 - 4.0 Obvious color difference
∆E 4.0 - 5.0 Significant color difference that is rarely tolerated
∆E > 5.0 The difference is evaluated as a different color
