Learning MEG Challenge 8:48
Activity #1 - Call students back to sit on the black line.
Going over what we have learned so far
- What are the big three things that we have learned to do in soccer so
far?
- Shooting, dribbling, and passing
- Today we are going to practice at least two of these, dribbling and
shooting
Introducing game
- We are going to play something called the MEG challenge
- When I say GO you are going to grab a partner.
- Then you are going to grab a ball and spread out in the gym.
- Then the partner with the ball is going to stand with their feet apart like
this
- Show students model what you want
- Your partner is also going to hold their hand up like this because they are 23 minutes
the scoreboard for their partner. This means their eyes must be glued to
them.
- The partner with the ball is going to dribble the ball around the gym
kicking it through anyone who has their feet apart.
- Make sense, any questions?
Expectations
- Before we partner up I want to remind everyone that because we are all
doing this in the same space we have to be aware of who is around us.
Remain in control of your bodies. The goal of this challenge is to
stay in control of your ball and practice your techniques, you don’t need
to go as fast as you can. Sometimes we have a tendency to go faster
than our brains can handle, try to keep all those around you safe.
- When you are shooting the ball remember you are shooting it between
someones legs and if you shoot it hard you could hurt them, please be
gentle.
If another Elephant ball
activity is - If students seem like they need a switch, play elephant ball.
needed Rules
- Stand in a circle with your feet apart touching your partners
- Put your hands into a fist near the ground and try to shoot the ball
through each others feet
- If the ball goes between your feet you lose one of your hands, if you lose
both hands start a new circle next to the big one.
- If you are out from the second circle, return to the big circle.
