Task 1: Understanding moral management of health and safety in the
workplace

Question 1
 Preserving human dignity is the moral responsibility but the WM seems always
shouting on the employees and also, he is not caring their concerns on H$S
issues.
 The important morel is saving lives but in warehouse the WM always concerned
about the efficiency of work but not about the safety of the workers even though
he knows the safety is compromising.
 It can be seen that many minor accidents happened before the major accident,
illness and injury of both the employs can lead to permanent disability so there
should be arrangements of preventing suffering.
 As there was no H$S officer for years this is the evidence that the management
have no concern of the well being of the worker this is not acceptable at all.
 Many things like first aid box and counselling of workers through H&S officer are
shown in the video but there were no such arrangements this makes the bad
relation between employee and employer and this not acceptable.
 Ethical leadership always prioritise the safety of workers among production but
here there was not even the proper training about H&S was given to the worker
so ethically this is not acceptable.
 As the workers asked several times to repaint the route of FLT but to avoid any
delay in work the WM did not valued their concern this thing leads the ethical
distress this is not acceptable.
 As the workers demanded several times for H&S officer along with repaint of the
routes of the FLT but their demands always ignored in this way they cannot not
fully committed to the work so morally it is not acceptable.
 The workers always demanded about the FLT routes repainting along with other
loop holes in safety but ignored every time so they cannot engage and empower
their roles so not empowering the worker isn’t acceptable morally.
 There was no community engagement where they can pitch their concerns or can
talk two ways about the safety even if they asked about FLT routes repainting
they were always ignored this is not acceptable morally.
 As the manager shouts on workers and it is mentioned that whenever WM angry he
come out of the office and shouts on workers this is a psychological torture on
worker and morally it is not acceptable.
 The moral responsibility of management is always involved and identify the hazards
but here the even identified risks and hazards are not resolved for years so
ignorance in morel responsibility is not acceptable.
 Even after the major accident the WM shouts at the workers that FLT routes
repainting is not problem that means management is not ready to improve the
safety of workers even after the accident so continuous improving is not present
which is unacceptable.

Task 4: Actions to fulfil health and safety management roles and
responsibilities

Question 4
 As the trust element between WM and worker is missing he is not valuing their
concerns so WM should develop the trust by fulfilling the legal demands of the
workers.
 The manager did not even talk with the inductees and also, he just come from the
office when he is angry so he did not know the behaviours of the workers so he
should notice the behaviours of worker.
 He should create credibility by fulfilling what he is saying to the worker as in the
video he has shown them first aid box place and H&S officers’ consultation but in
realty both are missing.
 After the accident in a meeting worker demanded change but WM scream but he
should be respectful with them and fulfil their demands so they can do their best
work.
 There is no consultation with worker even when they are pointing out some errors
like painting the FLT route so WM should consult those points with them that can
create a good environment.
 The WM shouts at worker even after the accident when they asked for changings
with in the warehouse except making the recognition so WM should recognise
their comments and efforts.
 Instead of sitting with the new inductees and giving the answer to their question
about the points in the video the WM did not sit with them so he should invole with
the new inductees and guide them.
 To make the warehouse safer the WM should sit with the H&S officer and make the
plan about that should include performance and safety of the workers to feel the
workers safe.
 The FLT driver did not complete the training and also the other worker just seen the
video but no extra training he should organise the trainings for workers according
to their jobs.
 As the fellow worker told the job to the new inductees but the WM should distribute
the individual responsibilities to the workers.
 The prime role of the WM should be to resolve the problems for the worker but
instead of resolving the issues he does not even listening their problems but he
should as this is his responsibility.
 As the worker told the inductees the time saving method of organising the racking’s
but those methods were not safe so the WM should allocate the safe places for
racking.

Task 5: Determining the contribution of organisational and individual human

factors

Question 5 (a)
 The organisational duty is to provide the safety culture but it can be seen that there
were no safety protocols organised as the PPE were not suitable along with the
absence of H&S officer.
 The leadership was poor as the responsibility of organisation is to appoint the WM
who should continuously work on the loophole in safety and he should also
communicate and resolve the maters of worker but he failed.

 The other role of organisation is to provide all the resources but they failed as the
H&S officer was not available for years to that the proper procedure of H&S was
not follows that leads to the accident.
 It is the organisation responsibility to insure the work pattern is followed but
organisation did not train the workers so they followed the time saving method by
compromising their health and safety.
 It is the originations responsibility to check wither the communication between
workers and the management is smooth or not but they failed in it as the WM
always screams at worker but he did not resolve their issues.
 The supervision factor was missing workers were doing according to the best of
their knowledge but if the proper supervision carried out then FLT route lines
should be painted so the accident may not be happened.
 The consultation with the workers was missing if anyone asked from the
organisation what is the missing in the warehouse they could asked them about
the H&S officer and repainting of the route and accident may not be happened.
 There was no supervision of training and also there was no trainings for the new
inductees if the FLT driver completed his training he may do his job risk freely.

Question 5 (b)
 As the driver was aware that the FLT rote was not painted so he should keep this
thing in mind while landing the FLT but he was not fully focused.
 I was aware of the FLT route so i should avoid that route when the FLT was in air
so the mistake was happened by me also that cause the injury.
 As safety is everyone’s own responsibility too so the worker should follow the safe
procedure for organising the palets instead of timing saving method.
 As I was not well trained so I should be more focused in the activites of happening
in the surrounding but I failed and jumped into the zone of FLT route that caused
the accident.
 As the WM screamed at the driver so the driver should not think about that and
must focus in the work that he was doing but was not focusing on the work that
causes the accident.
 As the WM pressurize the driver to do the job quickly but as a driver he should
follow his procedure of lifting and focusing on work but he was not completely
focused.
 As the racking method was not safe so it was the individual responsibility to not
follow the unsafe method due to this mistake the driver was in a serious condition
after buried due to pallets.
