STEP 2 - READING ACTIVITY

“A Green Journey”
According to the text, answer the following questions.
• Why does Lisa believe that education is essential for making a change
towards sustainability? Explain it.
R// In the text, Lisa believes that education is essential to achieving change towards
sustainability because she understands that awareness and knowledge are
fundamental drivers of behavioral change. By learning about sustainable living
practices and the environmental impacts of your actions, you will be able to make
informed decisions and adopt greener habits. This allows you to take concrete steps

contribute to a more sustainable future.
• Have you ever been a backpacker? How this traveling style contribute
to take care the environment in your region? Mention 3 contributions.
R//I have not been a backpacker, but this style of travel can help take care of the
environment in several ways:
a. Reduced carbon footprint: Backpackers often use public transportation, walking
or cycling instead of driving, thereby reducing their carbon emissions associated with
travel.
b. Minimal waste generation: Backpackers tend to travel light and consume fewer
resources compared to tourists staying in hotels, resulting in less waste generation
and a lower environmental impact.
c. Supporting local economies and conservation efforts: Backpackers often
choose affordable accommodations and support local businesses, directly contributing
to the economic well-being of communities while promoting sustainable tourism
practices that prioritize conservation and conservation. environmental Protection.

• What kind of changes have you adopted at home to have a greener

future? Describe 2 of them.
R//In my household, we have adopted several changes to promote a greener and
more sustainable lifestyle. Two of these changes include the implementation of the
use of LED light bulbs and the reduction of water consumption.
Firstly, we have replaced all conventional light bulbs with LED bulbs throughout the
house. LED bulbs are more energy efficient and last much longer than traditional
bulbs, allowing us to significantly reduce our electrical energy consumption. This
change not only helps us save money on our electricity bills, but it also reduces our
carbon footprint by decreasing the amount of energy we consume.
Secondly, we have implemented measures to reduce our water consumption. This
includes installing water-saving devices on faucets and showers, as well as repairing
any water leaks in our home. Additionally, we have adopted more conscious habits,
such as turning off the tap while brushing our teeth or washing dishes, and collecting
rainwater to water our plants instead of using drinking water. These actions help us
conserve a vital resource and reduce our water footprint, thus contributing to a more
sustainable and green future.
