JAZZ CHANT
MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES

1. The contest will be participated by year level (G7-G12), with a minimum of 30 participants and a maximum
of 50.
2. Each year level is given a maximum of 7 minutes to present. For every increment of one minute of overtime, 1
point will be deducted from the groups’ overall score.
3. There shall be an official piece entitled Turn on the Wifi, which will be used for the said contest.
4. Modified jazz chanting means that the class may creatively repeat certain words, lines, or sentences of the
given piece. Omitting any line of the piece, however, is not allowed.
5. Costumes and props are encouraged.
6. Contestants may bring and use their own materials (non-electrical/non-electronic only) for sound effects
purposes.
7. The jazz chant presented must not touch on any sensitive issues on race, religion, ideologies or person.
