The Basics
In Restaurant, Table Skirts are significant when it comes to food service especially to the banquet service.
There are many kinds of table, it may be rectangular, square, circle or in oval shape. In this kind of tables,
skirting can be made.You’ll need a white cloth (table runner), 20M Colored Cloth, pins, and thumbtacks.
And you are now ready for the next step.

Attaching a Table Skirt


On the table, place the table runner and pinned it with the use of thumbtacks. Be sure, that it is tightly pinned
on the table. If you have a square or rectangular table and your skirt covers only three sides, begin attaching
the skirt at the center of the table of the middle part of your colored cloth. Begin at the center of the back long
edge, work around a short side, across the front long edge, the second short edge, and finish at the center
back. If there is any overlap, fasten it on top of the beginning edge of the skirt.

Common Kinds of Table Skirting

Box Pleat

Table skirts consist of two components: the cloth table topper and a skirt that fastens to the table edge with
pins and/or thumbtacks. Skirting style depends on what occasion or event or the mood of the artist.

Box Pleats

A box pleat is a fold of cloth into the table to create fullness in a curtain-like position.

Single Pleats

A single, uniform fold in the center back of the cloth attached at the table runner.

Procedure for skirting:


Table Skirting

Table skirt is a way to dress up a table. Similar to


tablecloths, they wrap around the edge of a table
leaving the top uncovered. Chosen in a fabric to match
existing decor, a table skirt adds style and function to a
room.
1. Decide on what design you are going to do that fits
the occasion.
2. Prepare the needed materials:
 Top cloth
 table skirt
 Pins
 Thumbtacks
 Thimble

3. Lay the top cloth fastened with thumbtacks at the


edge of the table.
4. Pull the cloth adequately to straighten and smoothen
the surface tacking it firmly on the table.
5. Get the center front of the table.
6. Fold the skirting cloth to the center to get the middle.
7. Start fastening the cloth push a pin down to secure it
on the edge of the table.
8. Measure equal distances for folds and pin down
making sure that the skirting is securely fastened on the
tablecloth.
9. Skirt the table using and combination of pleats.
