21ST CENTURY LITERATURE

Module 1 Activity 2
“How wonderful it must be to live without feeling animosity toward
people. The bus is driving down the tree-lined street toward me, while the
mountains are visible in the distance.”
- There’s a universal assumption that everybody is aware of what
“kindness” is, and how we’re supposed to do it. But in reality, it means vastly
different things to different people. In my own opinion, the bus represents our
life and the mountains that are visible in the distance represent our
environment that we need in order to decide and calm ourselves. I believe that
our environment is one of the greatest factors in order to live, our place and
environment represents who we are and what kind of people we are. Being hurt
by someone, particularly someone you love and trust, can cause anger,
sadness and confusion. To live without feeling animosity toward people is a
great gift to yourself. If you dwell on hurtful events or situations, grudges filled
with resentment, vengeance and hostility can take root. If you allow negative
feelings to crowd out positive feelings, you might find yourself swallowed up by
your own bitterness or sense of injustice.

Module 2 Activity 2
“No wonder the moon in the window seems to have drifted out of a love
poem that you used to know by heart.”
- The last part of the poem is hard to analyze or it is not easy to give an
explanation because it is deep. But for me it tells us that just like the moon
seems to be drifted in the window when morning comes is like also to our love
person, to the things, to what we are doing can no longer feel or do it again but
we know that it is in our heart forever. The last part is connected to the title
(forgetfulness) for example the love, when have the lover and you will break up
back then, your feeling will have drifted in your heart but in your mind, the
moment that you are together in the past are still in but it is only a memory
you spent together. That’s why it entitled Forgetfulness itself.
