Narrative Report
Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)
Grade 8 – Blueberry

February 23, 2024

For the first session, the students of Blueberry class were given a text/story
written in English language, ensuring their understanding and attention to the details.
Additionally, a guided reading session took place, involving follow-up questioning.

In the second hour, the teacher organized a word hunt activity for vocabulary
building among the students, pairing them up to extract relevant terms from the text
they had read. Subsequently, students shared their outputs, fostering collaborative
learning. In the latter part of the session, the class addressed comprehension
questions related to the text, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the
material. This structured approach aimed at enhancing both vocabulary skills and
comprehension abilities within the learning environment.

During the third hour, Grade 8 Blueberry students captivated their audience not
with polygon-based robots, but with a thoughtful exploration of environmental
stewardship. Shifting from technological showcases to discussions on preserving a
balanced ecosystem, the students delved into the vital topic of sustainability. The
event served as a platform to inspire a sense of responsibility and environmental
consciousness among the students, encouraging them to reflect on their individual
roles in maintaining a healthy environment. By seamlessly integrating discussions on
sustainability, the school showcased its commitment to cultivating not only technical
skills but also a deep understanding of global issues, emphasizing the importance of
fostering a generation of environmentally aware citizens actively contributing to a
sustainable future.
For the last hour, the students were given 40 minutes to reflect on the reading
materials and activities they have taken. They were given guide questions on what
needed to be pondered. The last 20 minutes were given to the students to share their
reflection to the class. Some students volunteer for the given task.
