General Biology 1
1. Explain the cell theory and its importance.
 All organisms are composed of cells.
- When scientists were observing organisms under the first microscope, they noticed that
every single organism was composed of cells whether its plants, animals, fungi or
bacteria they all had cells.
 Cells are the structural and functional unit that performs life functions.
- It means that they are the most basic form of molecules compounds macromolecules
(Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins and nucleic acid) organelles and all makeup cells. But
they’re not individually considered living.
- Cell is the smallest form of life that we consider to be living.
 Cells come from pre-existing cells.
- It means through asexual or sexual reproduction mitosis meiosis cells must come from
pre-existing cells.
 The importance of the cell theory for me is, it made us aware and knowledgeable of how
organisms are created, grow and dies. Knowing that all the living things are made up of cells.

2. Distinguish prokaryotic and eukaryotic.

 Prokaryotic cell does not have nucleus at all, and it only has one cell while Eukaryotic cell has
a nucleus, and it consists of many cells.

3. Classify the different types of the cells

4. Explain cell modification, its types and its importance
5. Enumerate the different cell cycle and its importance
6. Describe the structural components of cell and its function
