Part 3: Writing
What would you like to study in university and why?

It is true that choosing the field one is comfortable the most is important both for their
study and their future career. If I were to study one field in university, I would be likely
to opt for ecology. In the following essay, further explanations would be given on why I
would like to study this field.
To begin with, this field fits my personality. To further explain, ecology explores how
plants, animals, and other species behave within their habitats and ecosystems, which is
perfect for someone like myself who enjoys being in nature and around animals. I want
to learn more about plants and animals and how they have contributed to the lives of
humans in various ways. In the ecology course, I can also learn how to preserve the
ecosystem. It would therefore be an honor for me to share my knowledge of nature and
animals with others so that they can all contribute to their preservation and protection.
Furthermore, studying ecology gives me sets of skills that are crucial for my future. This
includes both career-specific skills and transferable skills. Regarding the former, I am
able to pick up skills in taxonomy, data interpretation, survey methods, etc. that will be
useful when conducting ecological research. As for the latter, ecology teaches problem-
solving abilities as well as critical thinking, presentation, teamwork, and communication
skills. These abilities will be absolutely essential both during my studies and in my
future work as an ecology-focused research analyst.
In conclusion, though it is unknown what the future holds in me, for now, I dream of
studying in ecology field. This field provides me sets of important skills as well as
knowledge to share to others so that everyone will love nature and thus, protect the
environment at all cost.
