trade discounts on his order is 25% and a cash discount is 5% if the invoice is paid within 14
days. Calculate
a. The amount of the invoice

d. The actual amount paid for the goods
4. An invoice for sh500 dated April 27, 1977 had terms of 5/10, 2/30, n/60. Interest of 1%
payable on overdue accounts. Find the amount which would pay the invoice on: (a) May 9,
b) may 20, c) June 15, d) August 25, 1977

COMMISSION

1. A sales lady receives sh1 500 for each of the first 25 dresses that she sells in a month, sh1
700 for each of the next 25 dress and sh1000nfor each of the dresses she sells above 50
dresses in a month. If Mary, one of the sales ladies sold 53 dresses in one month, what will
be her total income for that month?
2. A sales girl receives 5% commission on the first sh.500 000 worth of goods that she sells
each month; 8% on all the sells above sh500 000 and a bonus of 4% on all the sells which
exceeds sh2 500 000. What will her total earning be for a month during which she makes a
total sales of goods worth sh3 600 000?
3. Mwenge Auction Mart charges for the sale of property 10% on the first sh100 000 and 15%
on the remainder. If the owner of a crap lorry received sh315 000, for how much was the
scrap lorry sold?
4. Chobweda Hotel and catering Limited of Dar es Salaam, purchased 400kg of prawns at
sh3 500 per kg; 2300kg of round potatoes at sh300 per kg; 100 packets of sausages at sh12
000 per packet, 200 tins of cocoa at sh400 per tin and 250kg of cheese at sh4 500 per kg for
Mwanza Hotel Ltd. If they paid the freight charges of sh80 000 and charged 11% for thir
service, how much was their gross cost?
