LANKEM ZINC PHOSPHATE PRIMER

A solvent-borne two component (Epoxy-Polyamide) high performance Matt finish anti corrosive primer for
priming mainly on interior steelworks. Epoxy Zinc Phosphate Primer offers good corrosion resistance,
flexibility, toughness and chemical resistance.

Colour Range Grey/Red

Packaging 1 kg pack

PROPERTIES
Drying Time Under normal conditions surface dry in 1 hours, second coat after 16 hours
and a maximum of 5 days. Allow for adequate ventilation during the drying
period.

Finish Matt

Composition Pigment: Colour Pigments and Special Extenders.


Resin: Epoxy ester/Polyamide.
Solvent: Xylene/ Alcohol.

Spreading Rate 6-8 m² per kg @ 100 microns WFT depending on surface texture

Wet Film Thickness 100 microns at 6-8 m² per kg

Dry Film Thickness 40-45 microns at 6-8 m² per kg

Volume Solids 42%

Flash Point 40ºC (closed cup).

VOC Content EU limits value for this product (cat. A/d): 400 g/l (2007) / 300 g/l (2010)
This product contains max. 212g/l VOC

EN Standards Satisfy EN71 - part III: 1994

Limitations For interior use only and do not apply when air or substrate temperatures are
likely to fall below 5ºC or when the relative humidity is above 80% during
application or the drying period.

SURFACE PREPARATION
New Surfaces Surfaces must be clean and free from anything that will interfere with the
materials to be applied. Wash with hot water and liquid detergent solution to
remove oil, grease or any other contaminants, frequently changing the water.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Allow to dry. Remove all mill scale and
rust back to clean metal. Remove all residues.
Previously Decorated Surfaces must be suitably dry, and free from anything that will interfere with
the adhesion of the materials to be applied. Remove all loose and failing or
suspect paint. Feather edges of sound paint. Remove all dust. Remove all rust.
Wash remaining sound paint with hot water and liquid detergent solution to
remove any contaminants, frequently changing the water. Wet abraded to
provide a rough surface. Rinse with clean water to remove all residues. Allow
to dry

COATING SYSTEM Apply one or two coats

APPLICATION Stir Colour Base well and mix two components Base to Hardener 3 : 1 ratio
by weight till the mixture is homogeneous and thin with Lankem Epoxy
Thinner maximum 5 % by volume. Apply by brush or spray. Once mixed,
Lankem Zinc Phosphate Primer has a pot life of 4 hours only. If it hardens
cannot be used thereafter.

CLEANING Return surplus material to container. Wash with proper cleaner immediately
after use.

HEALTH AND SAFETY Please refer to the Safety, Health and Environmental Information on the
container. When preparing all surfaces avoid the inhalation of dust and/or
metal particles. Wear a suitable facemask. Store in secure, dry conditions and
inaccessible to children or animals. Containers should be kept closed during
storage. Do not empty into drains, watercourses or access routes to septic
tanks.
