What sir told ,
The main topics discussed in this lecture were, Creative thinking and conceptual design. Under the
creative thinking we learned what is called as a mind map and how to draw a ishikawa diagram. Other
than that techniques available for creative thinking was discussed. Finally We understood how to develop
a concept by overcoming the constraints and limitations.
What I understood ,
Creativity is an important skill both in the workplace and outside of it. Creative thinking can help us
develop innovative solutions to problems and take on new perspective when working on tasks. Mind maps
are a very interesting way of representing such information visually, usually with a central idea placed in
the middle and associated ideas arranged around it. We can use different colors different snaps when
appropriate to make the mindmap more colourful. However, mind map also an excellent way of recording
or summarizing the proceedings of a creative thinking. Techniques available for creative thinking can be
divided into such as group techniques and individual techniques. The aim in group technique to use the
group to disrupt the thinking of the individuals within it. But we have to prevent the inhibition inside the
group. Advantage of individual technique is individuals can build their experience and confidence in
creative thinking. Brainstorming and Lateral thinking also focused on individuals to develop individual
skills in creativity. The ishikawa diagram, also known as a fishbone diagram, is a cause-and-effect
diagram that helps identify the potential causes of a specific event or effect.
What literature said,
Creative thinking is all about developing innovative solutions to problems. Creative thinkers brainstorm
not only a large number of ideas but also a variety and range of them.
Once they’ve brainstormed their ideas, creative thinkers will experiment with them. They look at ideas
from multiple perspectives and examine how their solutions fit into the scope of what they’re working on.
Creative thinkers aren’t afraid to take risks and try new ideas. In fact, this ability to develop, test, and
implement original solutions makes them a valuable asset to just about any workplace. At work, creative
thinking may look like:
 Holding an interactive brainstorm to gather initial thoughts on a project
 Evaluating a current process and offering suggestions on how to improve it
 Researching other ways to market a product and leading experiments on new marketing channels
 Developing an innovative way to reach out to prospective clients
 Identifying a unique opportunity to promote the company brand and developing a strategy to do so

Where my learnings have applied so far,
In our project discussions we used brainstorming to get more and more ideas for our design and
objectives. It helped a lot to shortlist some important objectives that we should fulfill when designing the
item. As we learned in our last lecture we are going to make a mind map too. I drew some rough designs
to figure out how our device is going to look like since we had to make an intended objective list in our
last workshop. Without having a rough idea about the design we couldn’t identify intended objectives and
analyse them.

These behaviors can help businesses create products, services and other form of offerings that differentiate
themselves from their competitors and address consumers’ demand in new ways. Therefore it’s very
useful to learn these things and apply in our own businesses and products.
