1 Introduction
The RFeye Outdoor Mounting Kit (ODK) has been designed for quick and easy
deployment with maintenance-free use. In keeping with this approach, CRFS supply a
complete pre-assembled Outdoor Mounting Kit for easy attachment to a pole or mast.

1.1 About this Guide

This manual contains instructions on how to correctly install an RFeye ODK outside
from the delivered system case. The guide also describes the components and
equipment that go with such an installation, and the tools required to carry it out. This
document describes the mechanical outline and interface connections to an RFeye
ODK assembled on to an outdoor mounting kit with sunshield.

An ODK system comprises an RFeye Node mounted in a stainless steel, pole

mountable weather proof casework with integral GPS and cellular antennas and an
integrated Power and Data Distribution Module (PDDM). The PDDM gives the unit the
added functionality of battery back-up power, optional 12V Auxiliary or Solar power
input (over standard PoE), LED debug box (for indicating power/charging status of
system) and a SIM card extender, to allow easy connection of a SIM card the RFeye
Node internal cellular modem.

5 Installation Procedure
Note:
Note Receiving antennas ACC-ANT0015 and ACC-ANT0040 should be installed
using the supplied brackets, poles and cables. Failure to install antennas using
supplied equipment may result in invalidation of CRFS-supplied k-factor files. In this
case user needs to measure new factors (e.g. due to use of alternative cable) and
create new k-factor files.

Note:
Note: The RFeye Outdoor Mounting Kit is designed to be maintenance-free.
However it is prudent to regularly check the top surface of the Kit is free from
obstructions that may impede the performance of the integrated GPS and cellular
antennas.

Note:
Note: Always disassemble the Outdoor Mounting Kit back to supplied
component parts and load into supplied transport case prior to transporting the
system between installation sites.

5.1 ODK RFeye Node

Node top U-
U-bolt
The top U-bolt that is assembled onto the RFeye Node provides a lifting point as well
as a point to use the safety strap. Using hardware from the mounting kit bags and
toolkit assemble as shown the U-bolt to the RFeye Node:
