Chapter 2 : CUBES AND CUBE ROOTS

SOLUTIONS

Q1. Prime factorization of 91125 = 5×5×5×3×3×3×3×3×3

3 3
√91125 = √5 × 5 × 5 × 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 = 45
Q2. Prime factorization of 4320 = 2×2×2×2×2×3×3×3×5
Prime factors 2 and 5 are not in triplet
∴ 4320 should be multiplied by 2 ×5 × 5 = 50
4320 × 50 = 216000
3
∴ √216000 = 60
Q3. Prime factorization of 8788 = 2 × 2 × 13 × 13 × 13
Prime factors 2 × 2 is not in triplet
∴ 8788 should be divided by 4
8788 ÷ 4 = 2197
3
∴ √2197 = 13
Q4. On pairing, we get, 571 787.
Unit's digit of the given number is 7.
perfect cube with unit digit 7 is 343
So, unit's digit of cube root of 571787 is 3.
Now, striking out the last three digits of the given number, the number left is 571.
The largest number whose cube is less than 571 is 8 (Since, 83=512 and 93=729).
So, ten's digit of the cube root is 8.
Therefore, the cube root of 571787 is 83.
3 − 343 3 − 7 × −7 × −7 −7
Q5. √ = √ =
4096 16 ×16 ×16 16

3 3
Q6. √− 2300 × 5290 = √− 12167000
3 3
√12167 × √1000
23 × 10 = 230
Q7. Ratio of 3 numbers = 2 : 3 : 4
Let common multiple be x
i.e. numbers = 2x, 3x, 4x
ACQ, (2x)3 + (3x)3 + (4x)3 = 33957
8x3 + 27x3 + 64x3 = 33957
99 x3 = 33957
x3 = 33957 ÷ 9 = 343
3
x = √343 = 7
∴ numbers are : 2 x 7 = 14
3 x 7 = 21
4 x 7 = 28
Q8.

Q9. Let the 3 awards be 2𝑥, 3𝑥, 4𝑥

𝐴𝐶𝑄, 2𝑥 × 3𝑥 × 4𝑥 = 192

24𝑥 3 = 192

𝑥 3 = 192 ÷ 24

𝑥 3 = 8, ∴ 𝑥 = 2

Discipline 2(2) = 4

Q10. Cleanliness 3(2) = 6

Q11. Regularity 4(2) = 8

Q12. Total prizes = 18
