Subject: Permission to carryout Research on Human Trafficking in Namibia


at NAMPOL Offices

Mr. Petrus Niilonga is a registered Postgraduate Diploma student specializing in


Safety and Strategic Studies (PGD SSS), School of Military Science, University of
Namibia (UNAM). In partial fulfilment of the above programme, all PGD SSS
students are required to carry out scientific research in order to: (i) test and
enhance students` understanding of research methodologies; and (ii) assess
students` application of national and human security theories in investigating
specific societal phenomena. The research process will culminate in the write-up of
a student research project of about 20,000 words under supervision of an identified
UNAM lecturer. Mr. Nangolo is being supervised and guided by Mr. C. Mabhiza,
Course lecturer of the modules: Research Methodology: Code PRP 4831 and
Research Project: CPRH 4852. Mr. Niilonga`s research topic is titled: “A Study of
Human Trafficking Crimes committed in Namibia”.

This research is purely academic and is meant to address the following research
objectives: To determine the current prevalence of human trafficking in Namibia;
To investigate the causes of human trafficking; To investigate the implication of
trafficking to human and national security; To assess the adequacy preparedness of
Namibia in dealing with human trafficking; and To provide possible
recommendation to combat human trafficking in Namibia.
In order to successfully carryout the above study, Mr. Niilonga kindly seeks your
permission and assistance to distribute his questionnaire among purposively
sampled NAMPOL human trafficking experts. Participation in the above study by
NAMPOL officers is strictly voluntary and anonymous. NAMPOL officers`
personal details and office confidential records shall not form part of Mr.
Niilonga`s research project report, neither shall they be published in the media
