 No consequences for rest of program

 No wrong choices possible
 No permission necessary
How to choose an elective

 What is on offer?

 What do I want?

 What fits in my schedule?

 Is prior knowledge required?

 Is there sufficient capacity?

 Is a book needed?

 Is there substantial overlap with a Major course?

One more thing…
New curriculum for first year students in 2023-2024

 Courses and content stay the same for the largest part

 Most important changes:

 Some basic courses will disappear or change in content (not Calculus!)
 Introduction of a few new courses in year 2/3
 Some current courses change in quartile or timeslot
What will this mean for you as
current first year students?
 For now you can simply continue with the current curriculum

 If you don’t pass a basic course this year, it’s possible you cannot follow
lectures again next year since the course has changed or is not given for ME
students anymore. However, we will always offer two exam opportunities.

More information, such as transition arrangements, will follow

later this year
