Dzień dobry and welcome in Warsaw!

We are looking forward to meeting you at the XV Warsaw Pre-Moot. We sincerely hope that this
Handbook will help you navigate your way in Warsaw during the next three days. The Handbook is also
meant to enable you to plan your stay accordingly. That way you will be well equipped with a pleading
schedule and an overview of fellow Team Members you will face in the oral rounds during the Pre-Moot.

We are thrilled to host you at our university – the University of Warsaw – and wish you a nice and
intellectually stimulating time as together we embark on the oral adventure of the Vis Moot.

MEET THE TEAMS!
In the following pages, we would like to present fellow Mooties
participating in the XV Warsaw Pre-Moot.
ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY
DOROTA PIECHOWIAK
Fifth-year law student. She is fascinated by the world and
people. The law helps her understand the world, and she
helps others understand the law. Professionally, she is
interested in corporate law and labour law. She dreams of a
law that helps rather than hinders a business, so she is very
passionate about participating in a simulation of
international arbitration. Experiences gained during her
studies in France help her marvel at the complexity of the
world and dabble in the problems of the global economy.
NATALIA PRZEWOŹNIAK
Fifth-year law student and fourth-year Spanish philology
student in the Interdisciplinary Individual Studies in the
Humanities and Social Sciences (MISHiS). Professionally,
she is most interested in civil law, which she practices in
one of the law firms in Poznań. Her academic interests
include legal theory. She decided to take part in the Moot
Court competition because it is unique opportunity to face
law students from all over the world in international
arbitration.
MIKOŁAJ PIEKUTOWSKI
Fourth-year law student and graduate of European Legal
Studies at the Faculty of Law and Administration at Adam
Mickiewicz University. He has always been interested in
law, especially how international or EU legislation affects
the Polish application of law - hence the choice of two
majors. To better understand this phenomenon, Mikołaj
learns languages - in addition to English, he trains German
and French. Apart from reading law hetravels, swims, plays
amateur tennis and debates at the UAM Debate Club.
ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY
ZUZANNA RUBASZEWSKA
A fourth-year law student at the Faculty of Law and
Administration at UAM. Her academic interests include
commercial law and financial law, especially in terms of
European regulations. Zuzanna is an active debater who
represents Adam Mickiewicz University in various
tournaments, both domestic and international. She decided
to take part in the Moot Court competition because of the
unique opportunity to learn about the use of international
regulations in practice.
JULIA FRANKIEWICZ
A fourth-year law student at the Faculty of Law and
Administration at UAM. She practices tax law, in the field
of which she has co-authored articles. She spent the last
semester on a student exchange in Austria, which provided
her with new perspectives. She is constantly looking for
new opportunities for development. Her desire to work in
an international environment, as well as her will to explore
private international law, prompted her to take part in the
competition. In between her daily duties, she tries to find
time to travel and learn foreign languages.
GABRIELA KRAWCZYK
A fourth-year law student in the Interdisciplinary Individual
Studies in the Humanities (MISHiS). She is interested in
intellectual property and commercial arbitration. She
practices primarily in civil procedure and commercial law.
Her scholarship stay in Budapest opened her up to learning
about different legal orders. She applied for the position of
a Vis Moot Court team member because of the incredible
opportunity to learn about the practice of private
international law. She will devote her master’s thesis to
creative market arbitration.
ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY - COACH
FILIP BALCERZAK (LLM, PhD)
The European Commission nominated Filip as a candidate arbitrator and expert on trade
and sustainability in disputes regarding trade agreements between the EU and third
countries. He has served as an arbitrator in over thirty-five arbitration cases, as a
presiding arbitrator, side arbitrator, sole arbitrator and emergency arbitrator. He
specialises in the resolution of domestic and international commercial disputes. He has
experience in advising and handling cases before international arbitral tribunals
(including ad hoc arbitrations in New York and London).
He is a registered arbitrator on the lists maintained by Poland’s largest arbitration courts:
the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw and Lewiatan
Arbitration Court in Warsaw, and by leading foreign arbitration tribunals: the Hong Kong
International Arbitration Center (Hong Kong), Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration
(China), Energy Disputes Arbitration Center(Turkey), Riga Arbitration Court (Latvia), Qatar
International Center for Conciliation &amp; Arbitration (Qatar) and Arbitration Foundation
of Southern Africa International Court (South Africa). He is also on the London Court of
International Arbitration’s database of arbitrators for appointments made by that
institution.
He successfully combines his professional practice, as a partner at SSW Pragmatic
Solutions, with academic work. He is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law and
Administration of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.
CHARLES UNIVERSITY
FILIP CHODĚRA
Filip is a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Law, Charles
University. When he is not busy being our fashion icon, he
enjoys cooking for his loved ones. His strengths include
being the official life of the party and a formatting
superhero. His weakness is failing to persuade the other
team members to hand in the drafts earlier than 4 hours
after the deadline.
JASMÍNA PUSTAIOVÁ
Jasmina is a second-year law student at the Faculty of Law,
Charles University. At this point, she’s certain that there is
no Article 80 CISG-related source she has not read. Besides
her love for moot courts, she enjoys music, debate and
climbing. Her biggest strength is annoying other mooties
with her never-ending supply of comments on the drafts. Her
weakness, well, you cannot trust her with the map.
CHARLES UNIVERSITY
MARIE NOVÁ
Marie is a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Law,
Charles University. As a part of the merits division, she
spent the last few months researching signatures and
electronic communication in international trade. She’s
overly passionate about succulents and the best
storyteller of the team. Her biggest strength is her supply
of fun facts and random thoughts. Her weakness is her
inability to find an easily understandable estoppel
definition.
SIMON PUCHÝ
Simon is a second-year student at the Faculty of Law,
Charles University. When he’s not grinding vis moot, he
loves to spend his time in the gym, or the sauna, or
better, both. His biggest strength is his ability to read
through every commentary on ICC arbitration while
staying sane. His weakness is rewriting the whole memo
when he was supposed to just “correct a few grammar
mistakes.”
CHARLES UNIVERSITY - COACHES
DOMINIK LIŠKA
During his last two years of studies, Dominik spent days and
nights preparing for the Vis Moot. The first time,
representing Charles University, the second time, Stockholm
University, with which he had the opportunity to compete
among top 16 teams. Upon his graduation, Dominik left
Danubian arbitration and entered into the real world of
dispute resolution, currently working as a senior associate at
BBH law firm. Nevertheless, he did miss the Vis Moot drill
and joy, so he returned as a coach of the Charles University
team, currently serving his third year.
JIŘÍ RÝDL
As a mootie, Jiri learned everything there is about viral
vectors as well as palm oil (and palm kernel oil, yes, there is
a difference). Thanks to this life changing experience, Jiri
now works as a junior associate at BBH law firm,
specializing in, as you probably guessed it, arbitration and
litigation. Nonetheless, his ties with Vis Moot were never cut,
so after a short gap year, he joined the coaches of Charles
University team, trying to share everything he knows about
CISG with his younger colleagues.
IVAN FRANKO UNIVERSITY
VERONIKA KULTSCHYTSKA
My name is Veronika Kulchytska. I am 19 years old and a
third-year law student at Ivan Franko National University of
Lviv and a team member of IFNUL Vis moot team.
[What is my motivation for participating in Vis Moot? The
upcoming Vis Moot competition is the perfect match for my
aspiration for broadening my horizons and immersing myself
into the world of commercial arbitration. Enhancing my
advocacy skills, building a professional network, analyzing
complex issues - that is exactly the reason why I want to be
a Mootie.

ULIANA VERBITSKA
Uliana Verbitska, a third-year international law student at
Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and a Team member
of IFNUL Vis moot team.
[What is my motivation for participating in Vis Moot?] It's
my first time ever participating in Vis Moot. Gaining Legal
skills and practice is what appeals to me the most. I'm also
looking forward to increasing my knowledge of International
private law and commercial law.
Achievements: Secretary of Student Scientific Society of

VERONIKA VAIDA
I am Veronika Vaida, a second-year law student at Ivan
Franko National University of Lviv, a team member of IFNUL
Vis mooot team, and it’s my first year being as a Mootie!
[What is my motivation for participating in Vis Moot?]
Teamwork & new knowledge. The most of all I’m inspired by
my team: incredible 5 people who I have a chance to work
with. I think your environment must be your #1 motivation!
Mine is! And of course I’m excited by a chance to develop my
knowledge in arbitration and international law in general.

JAGIELLONIAN UNIVERSITY
MONIKA BANAŚ
Monika is a fourth-year law student at the Faculty of Law and
Administration of the Jagiellonian University. In addition, she
is also studying at the Conseratoire National des Arts et
Métiers. She is particularly interested in labor law and
commercial law - and participation in Vis Moot is the next
stage of her adventure in this type of competition. Last year
she participated in the Phillip C. Jessup Moot Court, through
which she gained mooting experience and developedher
critical thinking and legal analysis skills.
JULIA FURMAŃCZYK
Julia is a third-year law student at Jagiellonian University in
Kraków. She is interested in public and private international
law, commercial arbitration and mergers and acquisitions.
During a recent workshop, she participated in a mediation
simulation. In addition, she is a member of Kraków’s branch of
European Law Students Association and member of Court
Watch Poland – both organizations provide her with
opportunities to further develop her legal skills. In her free
time, she enjoys traveling and reading, as well as taking
various courses to expand her knowledge, including business
and corporate law.
DOMINIK LIS
Dominik is a fifth-year law student and a first-year student
of intellectual property and new media law. He has been
awarded the scholarship of the Rector of the Jagiellonian
University three times. Professionally he is associated with
Deloitte Legal. He focuses his academic interests on
business and commercial law, banking law and corporate
governance. Since the beginning of his studies, he has been
involved within the student community serving among other
things, as vice-chairman of the Jagiellonian University
Council of Student Associations in 2022/203 term of and in
the activities of ELSA Kraków.
JAGIELLONIAN UNIVERSITY
NATASZA PIETRZAK
Natasza is a fourth-year law student at Jagiellonian
University in Kraków. She is interested in the dynamics of
civil and criminal procedure – with special focus on the
principles of equality of parties as well as efficient and fair
trial. She gained her experience in law firms and the district
prosecutor's office. She works with an association
specializing in refugee law. She speaks English and is
learning Russian.
WOJCIECH PUDEŁKO
Wojciech is a fourth-year law student at Jagiellonian
University. For the past three years, he has been actively
involved in student associations - serving roles on the board
of the History of Doctrines Student Association and the
Public International Law Student Association. He is the co-
creator of the grant-based research project "Maks Konsulski
na tropie". In addition, he has participated in several editions
of research grants on Polish court decisions in civil law,
criminal law and labor law. He is mainly interested in
international law, both public and private as well as in
history. He is fluent in English and is learning French.
PIOTR STOKŁOSA
Piotr is a fifth year law student. He is an active member of
Alternative Dispute Resolution Student Association of
Jagiellonian University where he held the position of Vice
President for Arbitration branch. Winner of 3rd place in the
Student Negotiation Tournament. He is particularly
interested in issues relating to tort and indemnity law,
private international law, banking law, and criminal law. In
his professional work he dealt with corporate law,
telecommunications law - as well as restructuring and
bankruptcy law.
JAGIELLONIAN UNIVERSITY
KATARZYNA WIŚNIEWSKA
Kasia is a fourth-year law student at Jagiellonian University
and a recent graduate of English Translation Philology with a
specialization in Korean.
Her main area of academic interest is criminal law, financial
law and international law. She is an active member of many
academic associations, including the Tax Law Student
Association. Besides law she is interested in horseback riding,
traveling and learning foreign languages.
EWA WÓJCIK
Ewa is a fourth-year law student. She is a member of the
Public International Law TBSP UJ Student Association and is a
co-founder of the scientific "Maks Konsulski na tropie". A
member of the Jagiellonian University team for the Philip C.
Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in the
2022/2023 academic year. She also works with the Wiosna
Association as a tutor for elementary school students in the
project „Akademia Przyszłości”. She is interested inn
international and civil law, which she encounterss on daily
basis while working at a law firm in Kraków.
JAGIELLONIAN UNIVERSITY - COACHES
MACIEJ DURBAS (LLM,PhD)
Partner and co-leader of the arbitration practice at Kubas Kos
Gałkowski. Maciej has extensive experience in arbitration as
an arbitrator and counsel in numerous proceedings before
Polish and foreign arbitral institutions. Maciej is a member of
the Arbitration Committee of the Confederation Lewiatan
Court of Arbitration. He is also enlisted as a recommended
arbitrator in several institutions in Poland and abroad. Maciej
has defended his ph.d. dissertation (cum laude) on jurisdiction
of arbitral tribunals. Moreover, he has been coaching
Jagiellonian University of Kraków’s team for over a decade in
the Willem C. Vis Moot competition.
ANGELIKA ZIARKO
Senior associate in the arbitration practice at Kubas Kos
Gałkowski. Angelika is a member of the team haandling court
disputes in the field of civil and commercial law, as well as
arbitration proceedings.
Angelika pursues her interests in the field of arbitration law
by participating in international training courses and by
acting as an administrative secretary to the arbitral tribunals.
Angelika is also engaged in preparing Jagiellonian University’s
team for the Willem C. Vis Moot competition.
TADEUSZ ZBIEGIEŃ
Associate in the arbitration practice at Kubas Kos Gałkowski.
Tadeusz is also a PhD student at Jagiellonian University with
his research focusing on the intersection of applied statistics
and dispute resolution. He is a recipient of national and
international grants and scholarships and winner of
international and national scholarly competitions. Acting for
Jagiellonian University, he is implementing a European
Commission grant to support international e-Justice projects
(E-Justice ODR Scheme). Tadeusz is also involved in preparing
Jagiellonian University students for the Willem C. Vis Moot
competition.
KING’S COLLEGE LONDON

SEAN WOON
Sean is a second year undergrad taking Politics, Philosophy, and Law. As a civil service
scholar of Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority, he found himself wandering quite
accidentally into international arbitration, but is nonetheless loving it. His professional
experience has largely been in international relations and policy work, including stints in
Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Port of London Authority. Outside of law,
Sean enjoys reading philosophy, brewing coffee, and escaping the city on his road bike.
LEIBNIZ UNIVERSITY OF HANNOVER
HANNES BIRKENBEUL
Hannes completed his bachelor's degree in political science
last year, gaining useful knowledge in international law and
constitutional jurisdictions. Now he wants to shift his focus
from public law to civil law and expand his expertise in
commercial arbitration. Through internships and a part-time
job in a lobbying department, he has improved his
communication skills and learned to adapt quickly to
unfamiliar situations. Besides studying, he enjoys listening to
music and podcasts, doing sports and reading books.
DANIEL BOSDORF
Daniel has played tennis for almost ten years and has served
as the team captain for multiple seasons at his local club.
This helped him acquire a strong sense of discipline,
commitment and responsibility. Furthermore, Daniel already
gained experience in working on group projects during his
voluntary social year. He feels honored to be a part of
Hannover's Vis Moot Team and is excited to challenge
himself on this journey.
FRANKA KAUFMANN
If Franka does not follow her passion for reading English
literary fiction, you can find her at the Gym first thing in the
morning. She loves structuring her day, organizing upcoming
tasks and challenges and has a burning fondness for equality
and solidarity. After completing her school, Franka embarked
on a journey to New Zealand, an experience that kindled an
affection for building connections with people from all over
the world.
LEIBNIZ UNIVERSITY OF HANNOVER
JOSEPHA OSTERMEYER
Josepha has been steadily introduced to new areas throughout
her career so far. She started with an affinity for
mathematics, metal technology and medicine and then
changed her interest to the field of law. This taught her to
work well in a team and adapt to new circumstances in
creative ways.
Playing the piano and fencing serves as a balance next to
Josepha’s studies. Both extracurricular activities provided her
with an understanding of fairness and discipline. With these
qualities, she now looks forward to support this year’s Team.
YANNIK BUHRING
After school, Yannik spent a gap year dealing with national
and international politics and worked with an organization for
refugees in Germany. This interest and experience eventually
led him to studying law. He already gained experiences
working in the in the field of criminal law and is now looking
forward to broaden his knowledge in civil law. In his spare
time he practices martial arts and is involved in social
projects.
MARIANNE KLOEPER
Since a young age Marianne found her love for learning
languages and participated in various exchange programs
throughout the years. During a semester spent in Vienna as a
part of her studies, she enrolled in her first courses related to
international arbitration and was interested ever since.
Besides that, she loves doing sports and has been
competitively playing tennis since her teenage years. As a
result of this experience, she learned to cultivate ambition,
while also honing her skills as a team player. She is looking
forward to meeting new people and gaining new experiences
while participating in this year’s Vis Moot team.
LEIBNIZ UNIVERSITY OF HANNOVER - COACHES

MARILENA FORTMANN, LENA GEBAUER (DOPPELTES

LECHNEN)
Last but not least: We present you this year’s coaches Lena Gebauer and Marilena
Fortmann. This Duo might look familiar to you. Lena and Marilena already appeared together
in the Vis Moot 2020/2021. Back then as Mooties, where they first came to know each
other.
Since then the team has come to be known as „Das doppelte Lenchen.” They recently
completed their state exam together and started to specialize in Commercial and Corporate
Law. Now, they decided to return to the Vis Moot to lead this year’s team: not only to
success in the Moot Competition, but also to the best experience of their studies,
accompanied by the formation of very close friendships, just as they were allowed to
experience themselves as Mooties.
PALACKY UNIVERSITY
PATRYK GROCHOWSKI
Patryk is a 5th year law student at the University of Warsaw,
currently studying at Palacký University within the Erasmus+
programme. During his studies, he successfully participated
in numerous nationwide moot court competitions. His
interests focus on dispute resolution, in particular
arbitration and mediation. In his free time, Patryk spends a
lot of time on the squash and badminton courts, and in the
winter on skis. He speaks English fluently and is learning
German.
VOJTĚCH HUDEC
Vojtěch is a 4th year student of Faculty of Law of Palacký
University in Olomouc. Ever since he started his law studies,
he has been mostly interested in civil law and when he got
the opportunity, he started exploring private international
law as well. Vojtěch considers VIS moot to be a valuable
journey to widen his knowledge of international private law
and to find new possibilities in the field. Outside of studies,
he also tries to deepen practical skills by working in a legal
firm specialized mostly in private and corporate law.
PALACKY UNIVERSITY
ŠIMON KOPÁREK
Šimon is a 4th year student of the Faculty of Law at Palacký
University in Olomouc. From the very beginning of his studies
it was clear to Šimon, that he would not leave this
professional field. He enjoys studying law very much as it
provides much satisfaction. For this reason, he wanted to
keep improving and gaining practical experience for his
future practice. Participating in Willem C. Vis International
Commercial Arbitration Moot competition is a great
opportunity for Šimon to sharpen his overal skills. Šimon is
most interested in commercial law, competition law and in
dispute resolution, especially commercial arbitration. As for
the interests outside of school, they are mostly reading,
combat sports, swimming and spending time with friends
and family.
FILIP NOVÁK
Filip is a 5th year student of Faculty of Law of Palacký
University in Olomouc. He decided to participate in the Vis
Moot because he believes there is no better way to
experience the world of international arbitration and get a
set of skills that would be useful in all legal professions.
Filip‘s professional interests include topics on commercial
arbitration, mediation, negotiation, international private law
and the Street Law program (teaching law on primary and
secondary schools). In his spare time, Filip enjoys swimming,
travelling and a variety of TV shows.
SWPS
KACPER GAJEWSKI
Kacper is a fourth year law student. He is participating in
the Vis Moot competition for a second time and he is in
charge of the procedural side of the problem once again. He
is the founder of the SWPS Moot Court Society and co-chair
of the Commercial and Tax Law Academic Circle at SWPS
University. Until the end of last year, he practised at a
boutique law firm dealing with arbitration. He previously
interned at the General Counsel to the Republic of Poland
Office dealing with arbitration disputes.
KLAUDIA GUTMAN
Klaudia is a fourth-year law student. Outside of her studies,
she is involved in the European Law Students' Association
ELSA Warsaw and has experience working in the corporate
department of an international law firm. She is taking part
in the competition for the first time and is involved in the
'merits' part. In the future she would like to combine new
technology law with arbitration. In her free time, she enjoys
painting pictures and creating collages.
FILIP KOZŁOWSKI
Filip is a fourth-year law student. He is taking part in the Vis
Moot competition for the second time and is responsible for
the procedural part of the problem. Together with Kacper
and Miłosz he runs the SWPS Moot Court Society, which
promotes moot courts among students at SWPS University.
During summer, he managed to complete an internship at
two international law firms in dispute resolution teams.
After graduation, he wishes to continue his adventure in
arbitration. In his spare time, he loves playing basketball.
SWPS
JUSTYNA PARTYKA
Justyna is a third-year law student. She combines her
studies with work in the area of compliance and with
preparing for the Vis Moot competition. Together with Miłosz
and Klaudia, she is working on the 'merits' part.
In the future, she would like to work in the field of, among
other things, intellectual property law and arbitration. In her
free time, she makes sweet baked goods.
MIŁOSZ ZOLICH
Miłosz is a third-year law student. He represents SWPS
University at the Vis Moot tournament for the second time
and is a co-founder and co-chair of the SWPS Moot Court
Society, together with Kacper and Filip. Professionally, he
works in the field of IT compliance and is interested in
arbitration, commercial and corporate law.

AGATA ZWOLANKIEWICZ (LLM)

Agata Zwolankiewicz, LL.M. is an internationally trained lawyer with experience in commercial and
civil law, including private international law. She handles international and domestic arbitration
disputes as well as complex litigation.
Agata is an associate in the Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations department at Linklaters
Warsaw. She graduated from the University of Silesia and holds an LL.M. with a focus on
international investment and trade law from the University of Ottawa. She is currently a PhD
Candidate at KU Leuven and a trainee advocate with the Warsaw Bar Association.
She is an active member of the arbitration community in Warsaw and is a founding member of the
Poland Very Young Arbitration Practitioners (Poland VYAP).
UNIVERSITY OF SILESIA
PAULINA DOMAGAŁA
I am a fifth-year law student at the University of Silesia in
Katowice. I am interested in civil law and private
international law. During my studies I was a member of
Student’s Law Clinic, providing free legal help in matters
concerning employment law. In the third year of my studies,
I took part in the Erasmus program and studied at the
University of Leipzig in Germany. I am also a graduate of the
School of the German Law held at the Jagiellonian University
in association with universities in Heidelberg and Mainz. In
my free time I am passionate about traveling and learning
new languages as well as hiking in the mountains.
WIKTORIA SZWEDA
I am a fourth-year law student at the University of Silesia in
Katowice, particularly interested in commercial law and
private international law as well as in the theory and
philosophy of law. I am an active member of Students’ Legal
Clinic Civil Section, providing free legal advice, moreover I
gained experience in law offices, drafting pleadings and legal
opinions, mainly in the field of private law. I actively
participate in scientific conferences, and I have also
acquired public speaking and argumentation skills at the
Moot Court Civilis 2023 (1st place in the team) and the
Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition 2022. Privately, I
am a coffee-lover interested in history and politics. In my
free time I read books, watch good films and visit new
places.
MIŁOSZ WRÓBEL
I am a fourth-year law student at the Faculty of Law and
Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice.
With my team I won first place in the Moot Court Civilis
organised by ELSA Poland, which is a nationwide moot court
on civil law and procedure in Poland.
My scientific interests focus on civil and commercial law, in
particular contract law. Academically and professionally, I
focus on the legal aspects of construction ventures.
For two years, I have been practising in a law office. I am
also a member of the Students' Legal Clinic at the Faculty of
Law and Administration of the University of Silesia where I
am the coordinator of the civil law section.
