Introduction to Cricket Umpiring Accreditation Course
Course Description:

The Introduction to Cricket Umpiring Accreditation Course is the first step in the ICC
Academy Umpire Accreditation pathway aimed at clearly outlining the functions and
expectations of the role of the umpire. The course will better equip and prepare new
cricket umpires for the challenges they face in terms of managing the match, making
decisions, and applying the Laws of Cricket. The purpose of the qualification is to officiate
competently at the community, junior, and school levels of the game.

Duration:

3.5 hours (excluding the time required for MCC Laws study, which is to be completed at
your own pace)

Fees:

AED 460 or $125 (US Dollars)

Assessment:

There are 15 multiple choice questions in this assessment which needs to be completed in
one sitting. You will have a maximum of 30 minutes to complete the assessment and will
need to achieve a score of 75% (12 correct answers) or more to be certified.

Level 1 Cricket Umpire Accreditation Course

Course Description:

The Level 1 Cricket Umpire Accreditation Course will build on the foundations of the
Introduction to Umpiring accreditation. The course will better equip and prepare cricket
umpires for the challenges they face in terms of managing the match, making decisions,
and applying the Laws of Cricket. The purpose of the qualification is to officiate
competently at the Premier Cricket Level.

Recognized Prior Learning (RPL):


Applicants can seek dispensation from having completed the Introduction to Umpiring
Course if they meet any of the criteria outlined below:
1.Officiated at least 15 Premier cricket matches, or
2.Have successfully completed a Home Board Level 1 Umpiring course, or
3.Submitted their umpiring qualifications to the ICC Academy and were granted an
exemption.

Those who have access to the Level 1 Course will also receive access to the modules in the
Introduction Course but cannot undertake the assessment and certification unless they
have also registered for the course.

Fees:
AED 1250 or $340 (US Dollars)

Duration:
7.5 hours (excluding the time required for MCC Laws study which is to be completed at
your own pace).
Assessment:
There are 5 assessments in the Level 1 course, and they are described below:

1. Preparation and Self-Management

There are 15 questions in this assessment. You will have a maximum of 20 minutes to
complete the assessment and will need a score of 85% (13 correct answers) or more to pass.

2. Knowledge

There are 5 questions in this assessment. You will have a maximum of 10 minutes to
complete the assessment and will need a score of 85% (4 correct answers) or more to pass.

3. Technique

There are 20 questions in this assessment. You will have a maximum of 20 minutes to
complete the assessment and will need a score of 85% (17 correct answers) or more to pass.

4. Match Management

There are 14 questions in this assessment. You will have a maximum of 20 minutes to
complete the assessment and will need a score of 85% (12 correct answers) or more to
pass.

5. Wellbeing and Safety

There are 15 questions in this assessment. You will have a maximum of 15 minutes to
complete the assessment and will need a score of 85% (13 correct answers) or more to pass.

Level 2 Cricket Umpire Accreditation Course
Course Description:

The Level 2 Umpire Accreditation Course will build on the foundations of the Level 1 Cricket
Umpire Accreditation Course. The course will better equip and prepare experienced cricket
umpires for the challenges they face in terms of the soft skills of officiating, making
decisions with higher levels of scrutiny, and applying technology. The purpose of the
qualification is to officiate competently at the State and National Representative levels of
the game.

Recognized Prior Learning (RPL):

The applicant must have completed the ICCA Level 1 course or provide sufficient evidence
of matches umpired with supporting documents from a recognized Governing Body.

Mode of Delivery:

A combination of online and face to face components to be delivered on site at the ICC
Academy in Dubai. The face-to-face component is dependent upon a minimum of 16
participants to be scheduled and will have a maximum of 24.

Assessment:

All Level 2 umpiring modules are competency based. The Learning Modules describe the
behavior and skills that are required to be accredited. The evidence of successfully
demonstrating qualifications, skills, and experience to be considered suitable for the role,
will be assessed through completing the face to face and online exercises.

No, the course is open to all and no experience is needed.

No, each course has specific eligibility criteria which is outlined above.

Is there a deadline to complete the course by?


No, there is no deadline, and the course is self-paced. The time given above is a guideline
of how many hours it will take you, but you are free to complete the course at your own
pace.

What are the dates for the Introduction to Cricket Umpiring Accreditation Course?
There are no specific dates for the course as it is fully online and therefore open
indefinitely. The same applies for the Level 1 Cricket Umpire Accreditation Course.

How do I get access to the course online?


The course will be hosted on the Aktrea platform, and you will be provided with login
details once you have registered and completed the payment for the course.

Is the course compatible on mobile?


You will be able to access the Aktrea platform via your mobile’s web browser but there is
no mobile app. You are encouraged to make use of your laptop/pc to experience the course
in the best possible way.

What do I get when I complete the course?


On successful completion, you will receive a certificate through the online platform.

The ICC Academy (ICCA) coaching programs are a service wholly owned and operated by
ICCA and its parent, Dubai Sports City (DSC).
Registration for and bookings of these services must be made prior to any utilization,
according to the Terms set out below:

browser configuration and plugins, language preferences and cookie data.
b. We may share Information that we collect from you on a strictly confidential basis,
including personally identifiable information, with third parties only to provide the services
that you have registered for. We will not share your personally identifiable information to
third parties for marketing or other such purposes without your prior approval.

2. Payment Mode & Terms


Payment will only be accepted by the following methods and must be accompanied with a
completed registration form:

1. Refund and Cancellation Policy
No refunds will be offered for cancellations instead a credit note shall be issued subject to
discretion of the management. The issued credit note needs to be used within a period of 1
year.

2. General
a. All communication during the sessions will be conducted in English.
b. It is the responsibility of each participant to attend all planned sessions and be at the
session venue, a minimum of 5 minutes prior to the start time. ICCA reserves the right to
deny access to any participant that does not join in time for the published start of the
session. No make-up session will be arranged for any session(s) missed by the participant
unless due to exceptional circumstances and/or discretion of ICCA management. Please
email in advance all justifications for missed sessions to education@iccacademy.com.
c. Participating in the course doesn’t guarantee a certification. Participants will be issued
certificates based on the assessment conducted along with the judgment of the ICCA
Education Team.
d. An acknowledgment email or notification will be sent out before the start of the
relevant course.
e. For, and on behalf of the participant you agree to grant to us the worldwide right in
perpetuity, without approval or compensation, to use the participant’s name, photographic
or video image or likeness for our reasonable commercial purposes.
f. The ICCA reserves the right to verify all submitted documents with respect to
applications and assessments.
g. We do not allow any video or other filming or recording equipment on courses and
accordingly the participant cannot record or attempt to record (whether permanently or
transiently) or transmit moving images or voices of anyone at the course
h. Participants shall not disclose or use any aspect of our course for commercial purposes.
i. Unless ICCA are notified, in writing, ICCA retains the rights to undertake photography and
videography of all activities at ICCA and activities related to ICCA for the purposes of
promotion and marketing. Such images may be used online or published elsewhere and
each Participant and/ or their Parents and Guardians accept that these images remain the
sole property of ICCA.
