Activity: REFLECTIVE ESSAY

Mother tongue is the one's native language as the word conveys it is the language that a
person born is taught first or is exposed to. This is the language a child is taught when
he/she is firstborn. It could be either the language that belongs to or the native
language of the father or mother. Knowing this mother Toungr is really important in
different aspects. First, by knowing these languages. It can be critical for each aspect
as it gives us the understanding of our differences. It's either in our culture, traditions,
and practices. Although mother tounge is a part of the culture ( language)) but mother
tounge is the foundation of culture. It give us the privileged to communicate and
exchange ideas with different people. Secondly, knowing mother can help us how we
can interact with other people, it will help us to read and know their beliefs so we can
act properly when we are interacting with them. It foster respect towards each other
and provide safe environment and open-mindness. In terms of teaching, by knowing
mother Tongue can help us, teacher to teach our learners effectively, a key factor for
inclusion and quality learning, and it also improves learning outcomes and academic
performance. This is crucial, especially in primary school to avoid knowledge gaps and
increase the speed of learning and comprehension. They will easily understand the
lesson if we are going to translate it in their respective languages or mother tongue if
this was written with different language like English, the most common medium of
instructions in all text books and learning materials. In the philippines only 47 percent of
filipino people are competent in understanding English language. So it is better to know
and study mother tongue as it give us the capacity to teach effectively using these
different languages in the Philippines. Mother tongue has a greatest contribution on the
culture of every individual resides in our country. By knowing which language they speak
you will easily recognize their ethnicity and where these people live.
