Hi, friends! I have another ragdoll plushie pattern for you this week and I think she’s pretty cute! Now,
our Ragdoll Unicorn pattern will obviously always be the ultimate pattern to adapt into a
giraffe/horse/zebra/alpaca /llama/pegasus/dragon/dinosaur (such a versatile pattern and you guys are SO
creative!) But all of your wonderful giraffe adaptions were so awesome that I was inspired to design a
giraffe to add to our Ragdoll collection as well!
As usual, this pattern is made in the same style as our Ragdoll patterns; separate pieces worked in flat rows
and then joined together to give them that unique 2-D look. This lovely lady has 29 (!) separate pieces (19
plus spots) and is verrry tall! Her finished measurement is approximately 57 cm (22.5 inches) high!
Let’s get started. Here’s what I used:
3.5mm hook;
Bernat Handicrafter (worsted weight) in Pale Yellow (200g);
Bernat Handicrafter (worsted weight) in Jute (50g);
Bernat Handicrafter (worsted weight) in Warm Brown (50g);
Black embroidery thread for eyes;
Stuffing;
Tapestry needle.
Continue crocheting up the head. Stop about half-way up, pull up a loop and leave this for now.
With a length of Pale Yellow yarn that you set aside earlier, attach the first ear at the “corner” of the head
(i.e. where the last stitch of Row 62 of the body panel is) by placing it between the front and back panels
and sewing in place, just like you did for the arms and legs. Continue to attach the horns and the second ear
in the same way.
When finished, continue crocheting around the outside. Remember, when you get to each ear and horn,
simply crochet in the stitches of the front panel only.
Crochet down the opposite (left) side of the head. Switch to Jute coloured yarn when you get to the muzzle,
the same way you did for the right side earlier.
Stop. Stuff the head and neck firmly.
Switch back to Pale Yellow coloured yarn and crochet down the neck. Top up the stuffing after every couple
of stitches, if necessary.
Close with a slst to first st. Tie off. With your tapestry needle, poke the yarn tail back inside the piece.
