notebook, but I know some teachers would prefer to have separate notebooks for sight words,
grammar, phonics, and reading. There are several actions that could trigger this block including
submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. We've had writing folders
in the past that the kids have used for writers workshop, and we've used a variety of personal

little older I think that I will try that. This cute workbook has a bunch of activities to give them daily
practice in identifying and spelling sight words. Love it--tips like the mentor text make this a very

and they can usually complete the tasks pretty independently. I always walk around and monitor my
students, as they are working. We love our Journeys Series too but it is almost impossible to do
everything in the books. In addition to developing their map reading and spatial skills and answering
text and photo-dependent questions, your students will also get the chance to learn about how
humans affect and interact with their environment. I have been working for MONTHS on this
endeavor, and I am happy and relieved to say, that I have finished them. I wish you taught second
grade.lol. We use Journeys and I plan on using INB this year. The Daily Reading Comprehension
Workbook has a different reading comprehension task for each day of the week, supporting your
kiddos to practice their strategies. I think that Grace is taking after me because she is always walking

go to their website. I can't even imagine how much time it took to complete. Kids write down the
answers first, then cut and paste on the notebook. I'm glad it's done and incredibly pleased with how
it turned out. The activities are pretty straightforward and offer them the repetition kids need to
commit new words to memory. On the inside pocket of their notebooks the kids have these fabulous
personal word walls to use for words they need help with. I think we'll make notebooks this
weekend - both kids would enjoy it, though Matt is the one that would really LOVE it. In addition,
having all of this important information in their notebooks served as a very useful and necessary
learning tool. I know that I have several that I enjoy writing in. This is helpful because it allowed
them to complete the activities on their own during station time and they didn't need me. I wish you

telling time, to exploring technology and coding. I know that I don't have a problem with the video
when I am using firefox. This means that the ENTIRE year is already planned for. Your kids will
become tinker engineers as they complete the accompanying activities in this book to cover basic
math skills as well as dabble in some problem-solving skills. She even video taped our new kitten as
she sang about him to her teachers so that they could see him. Your students will definitely benefit
from keeping these notebooks. These activities go splendidly with the series, so you should be all set
for next year. There are articles that’ll help your little ones build up their background knowledge and
some projects to get hands-on with. I have been working for MONTHS on this endeavor, and I am
happy and relieved to say, that I have finished them. Let me know if you have any more questions!:)

from Somewhere in Ohio on December 08, 2011: The ideas of inserting Mentor's text and saving
catalogs are truely inspiring. AND since I know many teachers do not use Journeys, I also made a set
of grammar and phonics notebook activities for first graders who are not using the series. When I try
to open them in google docs it tells me that I am unauthorized. When parents are provided with
support, they will begin to feel more comfortable helping their children read, write and do math. My
students were very helpful in telling me what worked well and what needed to be changed. If you

illustrations and activities like Sudoku, mazes, and counting challenges to build their math skills the
fun way. I might be able to use some of those for my 2nd graders. I always walk around and monitor
my students, as they are working. For an optimal experience, please switch to the latest version of

Thank you for all your hard work. When I start to get catalogs in the mail for Christmas, I set them
aside because I know that they will have pictures that are of interest to my children and I will also
not mind having them cut apart. If you like our vocabulary sheets, keep watching. (We will be
posting them as we do them.) So this year we thought we would try to combine their vocab with
their writing folders. They’ll complete coloring activities to identify shapes or race the clock to
answer arithmetic problems, amongst other fun activities. Thank you and keep coming up with these

time next year. Based on reading the one book per week, there is a homework assignment for
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night. Sorry I am so curious and ask so many questions. (I am

AM That's what I figured, too. My favorite part is when you explain the story ideas, mentor texts,
and drafts and show us photos. I don't use Journey's at my school but I love your phonics and
grammar pieces to this notebook. This one is even approved by parents as it’s a Parent’s Choice
Recommended Book. Kids really love things that are colorful, engaging, and include helpful
illustrations. I wish you taught second grade.lol. We use Journeys and I plan on using INB this year.

doodle on one of the pages, then support them to write one or two sentences about their drawing.

them about everything from physics basics to Earth Science. Loved the photos. Too bad they don't
have a children's section on Hup Pages where kids can publish their own writings (with parental
