SUBJECT: AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT KIT, WINTERIZATION

HEATER - ADDITION OF CONDENSATION DRAIN
PORT P/N 212-706-008-1

REASON: To prevent moisture from condensing in

line, which can freeze and render heater
inoperative
HELICOPTERS AFFECTED: Model 212 helicopters with winterization
heater kit installed. Inspect helicopter
to determine if this Technical Bulletin
has been accomplished.
Model 212 helicopters and kits delivered
in late 1973 will have this modification
incorporated.
ACCOMPLISHMENT: At the operator's convenience
DESCRIPTION:

1. Model 212 helicopter operators in extremely cold temperatures

have reported freezing of moisture in the bleed tube of the
heater, which causes the heater to become inoperative. This
may be prevented by adding a drain point to the tube.

2. Remove tube P/N 212-070-479-1, as shown in Figure 1.

3. Install tee P/N AN783D4, nut P/N AN924-4D, cap P/N AN929-4,
packing P/N 304(S-418-6) and tube P/N 212-073-455-1, as shown
in Figure 1.

4. Moisture in the tube may be drained by removing the cap. If

the helicopter is to be stored outside in very cold tempera-
tures, it is recommended that the tube be drained a few min-
utes after engine shut-down, before securing the helicopter.
If the helicopter is to be stored in a heated hanger, it is
recommended that the tube be drained just before removing
the helicopter from the hanger for flight. Probe tee with
safety wire or small drill bit to detect and remove any
accumulation of ice.

AN APPROPRIATE ENTRY SHOULD BE MADE IN THE AIRCRAFT LOG BOOK UPON ACCOMPLISHMENT
