SECURITY
Security measures put in place has gone a long way in improving and almost achieving section’s
objectives. Screening of guys who do tarpaulin of tents has reduced diesel theft cases at truck stop to
zero. Furthermore, introduction of visible felt leadership during the quarter has greatly increased the
vigilance of security operatives at the mine.

1i) CONSTRUCTION OF SECURITY GUARD HOUSE

The guard house is 80% complete and remaining tasks needed to complete the building include floor
tiles, solar panel installation, painting and construction of septic tank. If resources are availed, the
guard house should be completed by end of year.

1ii) MAINTANANCE OF RECORDS AND MONITORING OF COAL MOVEMENT


Records of traffic, goods and other deliverable entering and leaving the mine were maintained
during the quarter. Below are some of the activities recorded during the period.

The number of trucks that passed through the boom gate to various customers were as per table

1iv) OTHER DELIVERIES TO THE MINE


Notable deliveries to the mine during the period were diesel, blasting accessories, lubricants,
equipment spare parts, construction materials and fertilizer. Below is a table showing some of

2ii) SECURITY CONTROLS/CHECKS BEING IMPLEMENTED


Three Alco-blow breathalyzers were calibrated to give effective results when tests are being
conducted. 170 tests were carried out during the period under review and only three came positive.
