I. PRE-CONSTRUCTION
LV and MV connectors and splicing kits and related
1 accessories for construction are approved by the
Engineer.

Method statement for termination and splicing of LV and

MV cables is approved by the Engineer.

Shop drawing are available & approved by DAR

Engineer.
II. SITE DELIVERY AND STORAGE
Delivered LV and MV connectors , splicing kits and
1 accessories to site are QC inspected and received
approval from the Engineer.

LV and MV connectors , splicing Kits and accessories


2 are handled and stored according to the manufacturer's
recommendation.
III. SITE EXECUTION
A. MV Termination & Splicing
Terminate and splice the cables in accordance with
manufacturer's recommendations using approved tools
1 and methods. Use approved Method of statement and
manufacturer's prints and instructions prior to starting
work
Direct burial cables shall be permitted to be spliced or
2 tapped without the use of splice boxes, provided they are
installed using materials suitable for the application.
The taps and splices shall be watertight and protected
3
from mechanical damage.
Where cables are shielded, the shielding shall be
4
continuous across the cable.
Shields and armor of power cable shall be grounded at
5 both ends. Continuity at splices shall be maintained by
bonding across the splice.
The integrity of the overall jacket of cables rated 5 kV
and higher shall be tested by conducting a 5 kV megger
6 or high potential test between the cable insulation
metallic shield (and sheath or armor, if any) and ground.

B. LV Termination & Splicing


Terminate and splice the cables in accordance with
manufacturer's recommendations using approved tools
1 and methods. Use approved Method of statement and
manufacturer's prints and instructions prior to starting
work

Shields and armor of power cable shall be grounded at


2 both ends. Continuity at splices shall be maintained by
bonding across the splice.
Cable connections shall be torque tested by calibrated-

wrench method to manufacturer's recommended values

4 Proper terminals and crimping dies are used on cable

Cable splicing / terminations is in reference to approved

shopdrawing and manufacturer's instruction.
